Default I don't know what's wrong then...

A good example of the problem is at the Weather Underground mobile site... when I select "zoom into radar image," I get a poorly resolved-image that fills the BB screen. When I then select that image, and choose "full image," I get a blank white screen...

Is anyone else seeing this behavior? Is there a setting I'm missing? Is it a memory problem?

Thanks in advance for any help...

Default I also have the Full Image Blank Screen prob

I am also experiencing the blank screen full image problem ever since upgrading to 4.1.

It is not only in Internet Browser, but also when viewing images stored on the BlackBerry. It seems to occur only with larger images---both jpgs and gifs.

I emailed Verizon about it exactly a week ago, and today I got a reply: download the 4.1 software again, and see if it still happens.

I don't know if this means they updated the software---it still shows 5/5/06---or if they just think I screwed up the install somehow.

Just a point I thought of today after seeing someone else with the problem and this person being told to redownload, I am not using Verizon's 4.1, when I tried using it (I had 4.1 from Sprint in my BB) it told me I would be doing a downgrade, so I stayed with the Sprint all along. That may be the reason I am not getting the blank screen the rest of you are. So if after redownloading and reinstalling you still have the issue I would suggest upgrading to the Sprint version.

Thanks KonTiki, that is an intriguing suggestion. According to Options->About, the 5/5/06 Verizon full version is 4.1.0.268.

What full version is Sprint running now?

4.10.273

As happy as I am with Verizon, they are too slow in releasing or doing upgrades of software, It may be for our benefit with a lot of extensive testing, but the bottom line is that Some of the others are quicker to test, quicker to release, and they are just as stable if not more advanced. I had also tried the telstra but i found the Sprint more advanced.

EDIT- For what it is worth;

I had heard that Telstra had released a newer 4.1 OS and went to check and this is what I found:

Package Version: 4.1.0.364
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.1.0.309
* Software Platform: 2.2.0.120

Indeed newer and I am dowloading it now as I type this and will install it at about ten PM tonight. Will let you know what I find.

Default Any update re: Telstra?

Hi KonTiki,

Curious how the upgrade went... I am at least going to try the Sprint version, but have already downloaded the Telstra version in anticipation of your feedback...

Thanks!

Ok I upgraded Sunday and have been running it so far without any trouble at all. As a matter of fact this upgrade went smoother than most I have done with very little resettings (all I had to do was in Ramble I hat to key in my aol account and password and I was ready to go). I do not see any major changes from the Sprint release, but if you are coming from the Veriaon release it is possible that you might since it is two releases behind, then again most of those changes I do not run into until I have been using it for a while since they are minor changes to begin with. All I can report is that it went well, and the device is working fast and smooth so I am a happy camper.

Edit - First change I noticed, I just emailed myself a jpg, after I opened it and viewed it, was backing out of the view screen there was a miniature versoin of the document I had just opened. I closed and reopened it and it was still there, this never happened in the past and it is not there when you first open it because obviously you have not retrieved the image yet, nice little feature if you save a lot of emails and later need to remind yourself without having to fully reopen.

I had been on Telstra 4.1 for months and then switched over to Verizon's 4.1 when it came out (they are my provider afterall), but unless any new features or fixes come out (dial by name again, please?) I don't have any plans to upgrade to Telstra any time soon (I did download it, though, just in case I change my mind tomorrow or the next day).

I like to tinker with things and I'm always looking for a way to break something so I can fix it but I have wiped and/or reloaded my OS so many times in the past few months. It's just time to give it a rest for awhile...I used to redo my computer OS every 6 months or so too, I think it's been about two years now since I last did that.

Default Upgraded. Still have the same problem...

Telstra upgrade went fine.

Tried to load full image, still blank white page.

Tried every configuration that might come into play - still nothing.

Very odd...

Not sure what to try next.

Thanks for your suggestions, though - KonTiki!

Thunder33cat are you on a corporate BES?

If you are check with your IT department and make sure that there are no restrictions in place prohibiting you from it. Other than that the only other thing that comes to mind is either that you bought it used from someone that was on a BES and has an IT Policy restriction in place or that you had it on one and are no longer associated to one but that the restrictions are still there.

Default Re: BES

KonTiki - I'm on BES, but always have been... the full images showed up previously to applying the most recent Verizon update, so something that happened there seems to be the culprit. It seems to be on the updated software side rather than the BES side. Very odd.

Ok, so I guess I am going to upgrade tonight. I had not tried to get a fullscreen image until just now...and it doesn't work on Verizon 4.1.0.268; I get a blank image just like everyone else. My phone was bought new and has never been connected to a BES.

Update 12:57 PM PST:
Had a few spare minutes at work...Just upgraded from Verizon 4.1.0.268 to Telstra 4.1.0.309; took about 15 minutes.

Update Again 1:19 PM PST:
Full size images sometimes work. Maybe it has to do with how big the full size image really is? The smaller images seem to show up, but the large ones don't. So I guess it probably worked the same way in 4.1.0268 because I only tried it on one large image.

Update the next day 12:13 PM PST:
I had some problems with Telstra 4.1.0.309 so I downgraded back to Verizon 4.1.0.268. It was slow. For example: when I was logged into Ramble AIM and pressed alt-ESC to tab to a different app, the hourglass cursor would spin for 2-3 seconds before showing the app list. On 4.1.0.268, the app list shows up instantly. But now, even the small fullscreen images that work in 4.1.0.309 fail to work in 4.1.0.268. I can live with that, though, slow speed is the lesser of two evils for me.

I then did some more experimenting with fullscreen images today. In the browser, I zoomed to full size and got a blank, white screen. I saved the image to the picture viewer. In picture viewer, I could see the small preview icon but, when I open the image, it is blank again. I then set it as my home screen image and, lo and behold, it shows up there. Definately a bug.

Thanks for the updates, tateu... FWIW I've been seeing similar slowness with the Telstra update and may also consider downgrading...

Even more "bizarre-ness" - I haven't had the BB Browser icon for ages (and no, it wasn't just hidden...) It wasn't there last night. This morning it was, and it has screwed up my MDS connections, which had been working flawlessly (specifically Microsky...)

Odd. Can't explain. Anyone?

So far, my users have said the DCR's have not shown up... yet... but I'll wait until they travel to be the judge of whether or not it's gone for good.

#1 Complaint, as was mentioned, is the inability to type names in while under the phone program. Do call people they either have to hope that they had a recent conversation with them, otherwise, they're hunting through the rolodex to find their names. Nice bug there.

#2 Complaint - Viewing images seems to be partly broken. Example, went to the weather underground mobile site, typed in a zip code, saw a map. Clicked on the map, click in, choose "View Full" nothing but a blank screen. That used to work.

Still waiting for #3-10...
Yes. Image viewing is broken for me as well. Very frustrating. I was hoping it was just a setting somewhere, but in the 6 months I've been using 4.1, I haven't had full image viewing and haven't been able to figure out why... Lately have considered going back to 4.0. I do like how 4.1 tells you how much data is left to download for a webpage, and overall, it is a little faster downloading pages than 4.0. Compared in identical models with both OS's

BB7250 OS 4.1 Earthlink via Verizon Networks.

Another side note: Since 4.1 isn't directly supported by Earthlink, I had to set my browser emulation mode to IE in order to get the Earthlink Web page to recognize my browser.
