Default Ineligible for Insurance?

Please Login to Remove!

I just went on AT&T's site and logged in to upgrade my package and get insurance for my curve. For some reason, the 8310 Curve is "ineligible for insurance coverage." Not the 8320....just the 8310.

What the heck? Anyone know why this is? Seems dumb to me.

when did you get your device? i *think* you only have 7 days to add insurance on the device before you are not allowed anymore. you can add it within the first 7 days.

only 8100s are eligible for insurance through ATT, no Curves.

I got it around March 2, so I am beyond 7 days. I was not aware of that...crap. But the notation is not particular to my account. There is a clicky .pdf file on the insurance page which lists a few phones for which insurance is ineligible, regardless of the purchase date. The 8310 is one of the phones listed.

not all sales associates offer what they are supposed to. i would definately ask. I have not had any other devices other than BBs on AT&T and have had insurance since they launched it on their smartphones.

I've actually had this happen to me. When I bought my 8310, the guy sold me insurance on it. When I told him that I thought it wasn't eligible, he told me it was. Thankfully, I checked on it that night and called business care and cancel it.

By the way, he also went ahead and switched me to an enterprise data plan, which I didn't ask for... then when I went back to have him switch me back, he said he could only switch me to the newer, slightly more expensive personal plan (I had the $39.99 one, he had to put me on the $45 one).

One quick call to business care got me back on the expired $39.99 plan...

AT&T folks told me up front there is no insurance for this phone...so I added it to my home owners insurance policy for full replacement and it didn't a thing to my payments!
