Default Battery draining quickly

Please Login to Remove!

In the last day, I noticed the fully charged battery is draining in about 5 hours.
I fully charge the 8300 each night, with the unit turned off.
When I go to charge the drained battery, it shows a full recharge, yet it drains again within hours.
Does the 8300 eventually wear out its battery, requiring the purchase of a new one?
My BB is about 13 months old.
What's my move?

Does the BB feel really warm while this is happening? I had that problem, but it went away when T-mobile sent me another battery.

The battery will lose it's ability at some point to hold a charge, however 13 months doesn't seem that long. What's the warranty period, 12 months?

Are you in an area where your phone is constantly looking for a cellular connection, where coverage is spotty? This can run a battery down pretty quickly.

I'm in the OC, CA. Very good coverage.
Must be its just time to replace it. The tips were not applicable to my use to date.

Perhaps fully discharging 3x in a row and fully charging each time might be of use, to reset the meter on the battery. Nevertheless, a 13 month old battery could use replacing.

Seems like a rip, having to replace the battery after a little over a year.
I wonder if other people have had the same experience.
I haven't installed 3rd party software so I'm not overburdening the battery beyond normal use.

Anyone else had to replace after a year??

I've had mine for just over a year, the battery seems as strong as ever. I leave mine on all the time, I use the brightest screen lighting, I play mp3's on it over the speaker on a regular basis, and I can go a couple of days at least between charges.

Did this happen recently/suddenly or has it been like this for a while?

I will suggest again you try my recommended method of dealing with quick draining batteries. Should you find it doesn't work... get a replacement for very little money on eBay.

or our reliable vendor HorizonWirelessOnline.com - Horizon Wireless, The World’s Cellular Repair Center

I got lucky, for the time being.
Went to my local AT&T store, and the guy just replaced my battery for free.
He said the BB was notorious for losing charge after around 1 year.

If the new battery doesn't fix the problem, he said they would fix the phone.
I'll report if the new battery doesn't work for this problem.
