Unhappy Desktop Manager Installation problem

Please Login to Remove!

Hi! I am trying to install Desktop Manager 4.2.2 (came from Verizon Wireless with my 8830).
I have a Sony Vaio SZ270 running Vista Business. I'd install Desktop Manager. Once installed and rebooted; when I double click on the icon to run DM...a small window appears for a second...then disappears. In Task Manager, nothing happens, and no hint of Desktop Manager appears.
Has anyone expereinced this before? Any ideas how to get Desktop Manager to run?
I can plug in my 8830...the driver installs, but nothing happens.
Help!
Thank you.

First uninstall it, then when you reinstall, right click the installer and select Run as Administrator.

I'd also recommend doing a custom install and NOT install (Roxio) Media Manager - but that's my personal opinion.

Do you have an email account established on the Desktop computer with Outlook, if not, that is one of the issues that may be your problem. I originally had the same issue on my computer. Hope this helps ...

Default Same problem here with my 8830

I had BlackBerry's technical people on the phone yesterday for 3 hours and they were baffled as well (I myself am a computer architect, so they were pleased with my knowledge as well).

I'm tried both the 4.2.1 and 4.2.2 versions on my Toshiba Satelite with XP. At first we kept getting error 1714 error message that it could not remove a prior install of the version....when none was installed. Got that taken care of today after many hours dinking with it and as soon as I removed the Microsoft.NET out of the services after un-installing it and cleaning up the registry, I no longer got that message. HOWEVER, it still won't run the BB Desktop Manager.

IF you find out, let me know. As it is no, I have to use a much older Desktop PC to sync my BB...and that was NOT what I intended to do when traveling as my calendar and email are all on my laptop. BUT I am able to get software purchases uploaded.

Thanks
