We allow it, but we also have restrictions on photography at work. Ironic huh?
Some of our customers may not allow it though - so sales people may need to be careful when picking a phone in case their customer doesn't want camera phones onsite.

I actually make use of my camera for work. We support people with developmental disabilities who live in group homes or in the community, and we are involved in almost all areas of their lives. So I may need to take a picture of a wound or a rash to show our Health Care Coordinator, or I may need to take a picture of something in one of the houses that is broken or in need of repair to give to our Maintenance Director. Or a picture of a new staff person so that the individuals feel more comfortable meeting a new person who will be in their house, or any number of things.

Your place must end in #ia, cause down here in Norfolk, VA we can have phones on our Gov't site.
What person would tell 100,000 sailors, "No cellphone for you."

we allow cameras, however most of our users have 8830's anyway. There are I think about 4 out of 40 users who have a curve, and we have no pearls.

No policy against it, but since I have an 8830 I have no camera which is OK as I never was a big fan of a camera with a phone. However the other day while I was at a local Staples (upstate NY) a customer there had a 7 month old kangaroo with him (I am not kidding). He owns a zoo\game park also in upstate NY and was just carrying it around with him I guess. Wished I could have a taken a picture of it, oh well!!!

So true so true. At my shipyard, no camera phones. Pretty much anything you want to see that we have or can do can be found on Janes Fighting ships or Wikipedia.

No policy against having a camera at the firm I work for, but many attorneys who have to go to court often, opt not to have cameras on their phones because of courtroom rules.

If you work in a tier 1-4 datacenter it's against standards to have a camera phone in the building. We have lockers in the lobby so people can lock up their things before coming into the site.

Any of the new blackberries coming out with a "No Camera" option? My 8830 is starting to look a bit tired...

I have been forced into a no-camera situation for the last 4 years at the AFB that I work at. Moving to another site in a few weeks so I may be phone shopping again. ;) That was the only reason I got the 8800 but I'm glad I did.

I hardly work in a secure facility, I'm in the field most of the time as a construction project manager. Nothing other than commercial buildings. Yet, the good folks at IT/corporate/wherever decided no camera, no sd card, no wifi.
So, I need to carry a separate camera when I remember so I can take job site photos, I have to have an ipod so I can listen to something other than city noise and the subway between jobs. Those two things really suck. The wifi isn't a big deal for me. They claim the SD card wouldn't be secure. Isn't it just limited to multimedia files? Can't it be encrypted? If the'y're worried about employees, a usb flash drive holds a lot more, a lot easier and we never encrypt the data.
No chance of trying to get anyone to listen as IT is probably half a world away from me and all I'll get is policy is policy.
Funny thing, I can run blackberry connect on a Tilt and have non of these restrictions. It just didn't work well enough though.
Regards-Michael G.

we had a policy which prevented camera usage, however we have turned it back off, since we have a lot of salespeople who need to take pics at the most unusual times when they have no other camera. the only thing we have turned off at this moment is the GPS function, since if they use it in a foreign country, gprs costs run up pretty fast....

by the way, camera images taken by the blackberry suck anyway, especially the ones taken inside without natural light, those are not realy usable for business use anyway...
