Default Smart Dialing

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I have a user in our company that we changed from a 8800 to an 8830. He was travelling in Mexico on business and tried to dial his secretary from the Address book. The call would not go through. On his 8800 the screen would put a "+" sign at the beginning of the number for him. The 8830 does not do this. He had to manually place the "+" in his Address book for the secretary's number and the call went through. It did not work when he returned until he removed the "+" sign. We checked the smart dialing settings and they were the same on both devices.

Country Code: +1
Area Code: 248
National Number lenght: 10
Use 1 for national Dialing?: No

Is there a difference in the way that the two units work with the different providers. (8800-ATT, 8830-Verizon)

Thanks
David

I know when I was on ATT before, all call placed required a 10 digit number, and they also include a +1 before every call automatically. Maybe the difference is between Verizon and Cingulars network, GSM v CDMA?

ps... out of my relm of influnce or responsibility

I have a Verizon 8830. My address book has the +1 in front of my phone numbers. I do not have to remove the +1 for it to work in Michigan. I can dial numbers with the +1 in front. I have never tried it outside of the Metro Detroit area so I cannot speak for dialing in Mexico.

The only difference I have in my Smart Dialing settings is that I have the Use "1" for National Dialing set to Yes
