Are you 8800 owners planning on changing to the 83xx Curve when your current contracts expire?

If so, what does the Curve get you that you dont currently have (other than the camera). If not, please explain why you prefer the 8800 to the latest model.

Not me. I have had three Curves and got tired of the dust behind the screen or everyone of them. Did not use the camera so I went back to my 8820. Battery lasts so much longer and I never have a memory problems on my 8820. It has 34.4mb before and after a battery pull!

In my opinion (as an avid amatuer photogrpaher), camera phones suck. They're getting better, sure...but as of right now in my opinion the camera on cell phones simply waste space and resources.

I love the current 8830. It's quick and easy to use, stylish and very functional. Love the voice dialing!

What I DO want though...
- HTML formatted email, I mean come on!...plain text still? :(
- Built-in media player that plays nearly all audio/video formats - especially those created by microsoft.
- touch screen?....no, never mind....the track wheel does an excellent job and is fast.

Good comments, keep'em coming! I'm on the brink of becoming a Berryite and I'm torn between the Curve and the 8800, so this is all great feedback. I have to say, I think the 8800 looks far better than the curve, which looks a bit like a kid's toy.

As a new user of an 8830 only 2 months old I have to say I love, love, love my 8830. I looked at the curve and was not impressed. I have a camera so I don't need one on my phone. What I need is a reliable phone that gives me my email on the go and great reception. The tethering to my laptop is a bonus!

exactly the same boat as you greg, with exactly the same praise :D

i did keep the curve as a throw around phone, tho.

Me too. Although the curve with camera is tempting. But not worth the switch. I'll wait for the 9000.

About once in a few months, I will switch over to the Curve but within a day or two I am back to my Industrial Duty 8820!

I am looking forward to the 9000!!!

No. I love having Wi-Fi and GPS and don't need a camera. Plus, a lot of the companies that I've talked to (I'm an engineering student) have a no cameraphone policy in their workplace, so I'd be out of luck with a curve. I like that I can access my MicroSD card without pulling the battery and that the battery lasts FOREVER! I'm also a fan of the looks of the 8820, very professional. Don't get me wrong, the curve is a great phone for some people, but not for me.

I am now using an HTC Tilt and foresee myself sticking with it as my main phone for a long time to come. However, the only BlackBerry I miss using is the 8800. I have owned quite a few Curves as they are easier to get than the 8800 and now the 8820 with T-Mobile but I don't miss using them. I sold my latest one today actually and unless I get an amazing deal on one or just need an emergency phone I don't think I'll bother with another. The 8800 or 8820 is likely to be on order once again in the next week or so. I really will only use it on my second line but it is such a great device that I really enjoy having access to it.

Is there a difference in the build quality of the 8820 compared to an 8800? I know the side rails on the first batch of 8800's were sqweaky.

My 8820 compares well to my 8800, I had no bad rails. I do notice that the keyboard on the 8820 is more "crisp" than my 8800. The 8800 keyboard was a little "mushy" compared to the 8820. It could just be personal preference but the 8820 is nice for me

I love my 8830, but would take my Pearl back. I never had a hard time with the suretype. I might wait for the second evolution of the 9000 to see what new comes out. My biggest problem is corp policy of no Camera phones!

i don't know, i had my heart set on it, and then saw the new pearl, which the place didn't have jet, and cheaped out and bought the pearl, but i'm not too sad about it, i love my pearl, i'm becoming and addict at a young age, not sure if that is a good or bad thing
