Default using an American unlocked blackberry on PAYG in Italy!

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I have a AT&T blackberry 8800 that I bought in the states. I had it unlocked so I am able to put a PAYG sim card in it from any country and use it to make calls, texts etc. I don't use it for browsing the web so this is not an issue.

Currently in Italy, I am using the blackberry with an Italian PAYG sim card on TIM. It functions fine but my credit is used up after a few days even if I don't make a call or send a text. What can i do about this? Should I change network for example?

Any info would be much appreciated!!

Call the carrier and ask why it does this maybe?

I have been into the tim store and they didn't know. I am wondering if perhaps the blackberry itself uses up credit in order to connect to the network? I am barely using the phone yet the credit dwindles...

Have you turned off data roaming?

Are people calling you? Even if you dont answer, its gonna charge you

Please don't double post, it's considered rude. I offered a response in your other thread as well.

Ok I will look into the data roaming, thank you. But bear in mind in Europe we don't get charged to receive calls like you do in the states, so I'm not sure that would come into it...
