I am trying to figure out a way to send / receive sms messages from my PC with a blackberry attached to it via a USB cable.
I understand that AT commands can be sent through hyperterminal (MS windows application) to send SMS. How do I do that?
Can a java app be written on the PC so that when it is run on the PC it will send SMS through the blackberry
Many of the carriers' web sites have an online feature that lets you send SMS messages from your pc to any mobile phone number. Sprint's is under My Sprint (must log in to use it).
Thanks for the response. I think I did not phrase my question correctly.
I am not looking for ways to send SMS from PC to any number. What is needed is this:
1. Connect blackberry to a PC via a USB cable
2. Type SMS message on PC to a number other than blackberry number
3. The SMS message is then transmitted to the connected blackberry via USB cable and then sent to the number in 2.
4. Similarly, when the blackberry receives SMS message, I should be able to retrieve that message on my PC.
I am looking for a functionality similar to the software that comes along with blackberry except I want it in a separate application.
I understand this could be done using AT commands but am unable to find a SMS command for this.
I've heard of tethering a laptop to a BlackBerry so you can use the BlackBerry data connection for online access, but never getting the BlackBerry programs to work on the laptop itself.
