Blackberry data limit
Please Login to Remove!
Hey guys I was just at the AT&T store and I picked up a new iPhone for my brother. While I was there I asked the red does the new data plans affect the blackberry data plans. She said yes . So I am not sure if she knew what she was talking about but can someone confirm this does the new data plan rates affect blackberry data plans .

Why wouldn't it? In Canada they have limited plans as well. This isn't anything new. I don't see why it wouldn't affect BlackBerry data plans.

Att announced changes to plans that include unlimited data. Included in these are the Blackberry and iPhone plans. Most Reps were given preliminary information and until they become familiar with the various plans, asking may be subject to error. To avoid the loss of the unlimited BB plan I purchased a 9700 Friday to beat the Monday change.

Well Canada always has limits on there data plans but in the USA from what I can see they are unlimited with somewhat a cap but. I am talking about the data plans that are going to take affect later on today do they apply to the blackberry data plan . Because there is no mention about the blackberry in the data plans . So I am thinking down the line if I want to come back to the blackberry will I be stuck with a 2 gig limit or what . I have a friend that lives in london canada and she tells me that all the providers have limits on there data plans there

do it today. If enough complaints are issued maybe they will select a few devices to exempt.
Blackberry , Iphone etc.

I think I am going to hit up a few more AT&T spots to see if I can get a 100% positive if the data plans are affected

Trust me. First of all, AT&T's current "unlimited plan" is capped at 5GB. Not it writing, but that's how it works.
AT&T's new plans are:
200 MB for $15/mo. Go over it, automatically get charged another $15 for another 200 MB of data.
2 GB for $25/mo. Go over it, automatically get charged another $10 for an additional 1 GB.
The old "unlimited plan" and the new capped plans apply to ALL smartphones - BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Android and iPhone (and the iPad). Period. You can upgrade your device from one smartphone to another (even change brands and/or platforms) and keep your existing "unlimited" plan. Do anything to drop your "unlimited" plan (cancel service, switch to a non-smart phone, voluntarily change your data plan) and it is gone forever. Period.
I have verified it with managers of 2 different AT&T corporate stores and 4 different Business Customer Care reps. It completely jives with what is being published. It is what it is.

BTW, under current conditions, 2GB is A TON OF DATA for a BlackBerry to consume. That may change with OS6 and the new webkit browser, but as it stands today, none of my coworkers or family come close to using 2GB of data on a BlackBerry.

Man that sucks ok I guess I will be keeping my iPhone and the unlimited data plan pj the iPhone being that I use MyWi on the iPhone to tether my data to the iPad thanks for the confirmation. I new that there was a 5 gig cap but once in a while I do hit that limit but nothing happens . Man tmobile sprint and verizon are starting to look good even if they do have a 5 gig limit better then 2 gigs

One more thought... Rafe Needleman of CNET has stated that he really believes that as data demand grows in the future, the caps will also rise. Sounds good, and hopefully it will prove to be true.
What doesn't make sense is that AT&T has stated that the 2GB cap is more than enough for 98% of their customers. If that's true, why make the change at all... implementing a cap that, in effect, doesn't really limit anyone's access is like swatting at a hornets' nest - nothing to be gained except annoying the hornets (the customers).

The changes are both for network overload issues and for raising income. Most customers donxxx8217;t really know what they use so a lot will select the add-on to cover what they perceive they use.
Also switching carriers may be a waste of time . They will all have some form of limit. Remember they have agreements to provide interoperability( roaming ) and if one is overloading the network sharing the other will start to limit the use. This will give the customer the impression their company is having problems and some customers will move. SO the major carriers will all eventually do the same. Itxxx8217;s an endless cycle
Edit,
ATT, Verizon and T-mobile are all expanding their networks to allow expanded data use.

Sprint just launched the EVO on Friday and with that they are charging an additional $10 for "premium" data, many say that's for 4G but it is charged to all consumers regardless if they're in a 4G area or not.
With this additional charge, Sprint removes all data caps and you have true unlimited data.

Charging. The battery must be dead and needed to be recharged. The white screen may be because the phone does not see enough power to load. Unless you got it wet or dropped it.
