Thumbs up 8900 Curve OS with Best Battery Life

Please Login to Remove!

Just got this new toy couple weeks ago. This is my first blackberry ever.

I love everything about blackberry cept i have been getting bad battery life with it. It last me about 1-day with light usage, less than 1 hr talk time and maybe 30 txt msgs. I have been reading posts and ppl are getting 3-4 days out of their BBs with heavy usage.

Would really appreciate if anyone could tell me which OS has the best battery life for 8900?

Try options - screen/keyboard
turning off auto dim
turning down brightness to 10
turning off LED coverage indicator.
that should improve your battery.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry Curve 8900)

Also make sure to disable things like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS if you aren't using them.

One day isn't that bad! Don't think an OS upgrade will do any better than that.

Another tip, make sure you close out apps, not just exit out, especially those that use data.

Try closing your 3rd party apps that use data if you use any. A few apps ie. google maps/where which require gps are some that drain my battery pretty fast when i leave them on.

I was having the same battery issue. I tried different Os and got the following results:-
114- battery dies in a day with minimal usage on the blackberry
131- Battery can last a 2 days with minimal usage
151- This is the best O.S for battery life. I can use it for a good 3 gays with moderate usage.
just try different O.S to check ehich O.s works best for your blackberry. Plus turn off wifi, gps, blutooth and any other application that is not in use

I have been using this application called "I Love Blackberry". It monitors my usage every day. I can definitely say that the BB will last from 4 AM till the time I get home at about 6 or 7 PM. I have about 20% left. And I get over 200 emails a day and multiple calls.

I have never had this go over day without charging it. The processor, screen are significantly better than the old ones. I think that 1 day on th 8900 is pretty good. I have BT and wi-fi on all day as well.

Reduce the screen backlight brightness as Midnight said.
You will be amazed how much your battery improves.
Switch off wifi.
That really bleeds the battery.

Post Screen

I cant remember where i read this from but i found that one of the main reasons the 8900 has sub par battery life is due to the HI-Res screen ... which is fine with me because the screen is the sheeeit !
