Well, at least Apple noticed the Pearl is out there.

Here he is at MacWorld here in SF, just 20 minutes ago.

Here it is. The entire front of the iPhone is a flat touchscreen.

8GB hard disk, works as an iPod, video player, etc.

This is all courtesy of engadget:

Personally, I prefer my Pearl, with its e-mail push capabilities and small form factor.

Plus, I do NOT like touchscreen controls. I had a touch schreen phone [Samsung i300]. Did not like dialing via touching the display.

If they built it to be as sturdy as their pcs.....this would be nice. Keeping my Pearl though.

definitely a novel approach. but i have mixed feelings about not having keys. excellent for media, phone and basic e-mail applications. but would seem not so user friendly without a stylus when composing e-mails or writing text. i think the weight and definition of a physical key actually makes it a bit easier to enter text. i would liken it to using my ipaq with no stylus. which i've done before and actually hated it!

I have a feeling a lot of people are going to be switching to the Iphone. If the email is just as good as the BB's why wouldn't you. That has got to be the coolest phone ever made to date. 8MB of storage i mean damn that phone is amazing it really does make the 8100 like like its form the 8's
I wish they put in 3G though since Cingular now has it but the wifi and bluetooth rock!
I hate MAC's but i really think i might switch and learn

Eeeewwwww not for me at all.

I remember a few years ago I bought a remote from Radio Shack that worked similiar to that. When off you could see nothing, it was all smooth with no buttons. Then depending on what mode your in it showed buttons for that mode. I hated it and it was akward to use as when not using it it showed nothing and you would go to touch a key and it would not be active in that mode, so you had to switch back and forth for the simpliest of things. It also wore out quickly.

Default NEW iPhone could be Blackberry killer??

iPhone was just announced today from Apple moments ago, and while their stock soared, blackberrry's plummeted. Could this be the new blackberry killer, features on this thing are amazing....

xxx8226; All of the other smartphones don't look so "smart" now, do they?
xxx8226; Research In Motion (RIM) shares plummet 6.5%...
xxx8226; Steve listening to music, Phil calls, music fades out, Phil asks for photo, Steve finds it and emails it to him while talking. Hangs up - music fades back up and resumes playing.
xxx8226; AAPL up $4.21, or +4.93%, to $89.68...
xxx8226; View multiple webpages - cool effects - Exposé- and CoverFlow-like
xxx8226; Zooming on webpages via touch
xxx8226; Mail on iPhone looks just like Apple Mail - full or split-screen
xxx8226; Push IMAP email - like Blackberry
xxx8226; Connects to any POP3 or IMAP email
xxx8226; Free Yahoo IMAP (and POP) email for all iPhone customers
xxx8226; Safarti web browser
xxx8226; Dashboard Widgets
xxx8226; Google Maps - directions, satellite images...
xxx8226; Photos - portrait and landscape - turn the device and it displays the image correctly - zoom in and out with a touch
xxx8226; SMS messaging - QWERTY keyboard on touch screen
xxx8226; Conference calls... Speakerphone mode...
xxx8226; Touch your music
xxx8226; Visual voicemail
xxx8226; Quad band GMS+Edge, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth
xxx8226; UI looks amazing
xxx8226; Apple has reinvented the phone
xxx8226; Bulit-in speaker
xxx8226; Video looks high quality - WOW!
xxx8226; Apple iPhone features two-megapixel camera
xxx8226; Proximity sensor automatically shuts off screen when you bring it up to your ear
xxx8226; Ambiant light sensor saves power
xxx8226; Accelerometer - knows if it's in landscape or portrait position
xxx8226; iPod dock connector - headphone jack - 11/16-inch thin
xxx8226; Works like magic - no stylus - Multi-Touch - multi-finger gestures
xxx8226; Fully syncs with iTunes
xxx8226; Runs desktop class apps - not crippled apps - and full networking
xxx8226; iPhone runs on Mac OS X - five years ahead of everything... <---(BEST FEATURE OF ALL)
xxx8226; Apple sahres up 3.5% to $88.48
xxx8226; Multi-Touch' technology
xxx8226; Revolutionary user interface - patented - years in development
xxx8226; Called "iPhone" - it's an iPod + mobile phone + internet communicator all in one device

I WANT ONE!!!!

Just got back from the keynote, and I have to say the phone and the multimedia functionality look great. The browser especially on the screen look pretty impressive for displaying web content. I have to hand it to Apple and Mr. Jobs...the device is slick. Of course, I take all of this with a grain of salt...it is a demo and frankly, the iPhone is really a consumer multimedia device, not a business one.

The way Mr. Jobs demonstrated the keyboard and the touch typing on it makes it look difficult to type and respond to emails on a regular basis. I don't question the iPod and video functionality, but the email functionality without a stylus or keyboard is a tough one to swallow. He also mentioned push email "just like the Blackberry". Well, which "BB killer" that has ever come out on the market hasn't mentioned BB's push email. The problem no one other than BB gets this right.

BTW, props to Cingular for always getting the cool phones! It's too bad their coverage is so iffy out here in the Bay Area.

4GB $499 w/2 year contract
8GB $599 w/2 year contract

Pricey but worth it if you think about it. iPod w/video, 2mp camera and Phone/PDA/Email all in one.

Default Wireless Stocks Taking a Dive

BTW, all of the wireless stocks are reacting negatively right now...RIM, Palm, Nokia...your basic knee-jerk reaction.

Wow, it is definately very sexy looking. I will reserve any additional judgement until we get some reviews on how well it works.
