Unhappy Blackberry Email Validation

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I got an email tonight from an email address claiming to be from Blackberry telling me to validate my password for the email account. I did as I was told (beginning to think that this was rather foolish) and my Blackberry says that the password is not valid.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Jo

If this is a genuine problem, I've had my Blackberry for just over 6 months and have never had to validate it before.

Without actually reading the email, it sounds to me like a scam. Was it the carrier supplied email account? Have you changed any passwords or edited any of your accounts lately?

You should log into that email account and change the password ASAP, just in case.

How did you validate? If you used the email setup app on the BlackBerry smartphone or your carrier's BIS webpage, then you are ok.

For what it's worth, I had to do it for my yahoo email Saturday morning. First time ever. Same thing as your case, email from BIS, and BIS said password was not correct when I tried to validate. ... Went to Yahoo. Yahoo website said Yahoo believes my Yahoo account may have been compromised and had me reset password. Afterward I validated my Yahoo email in BIS with the new password.

It's my university email account. Not done any editing of any sort to my accounts since I set them up on my blackberry. Unfortunately, the university have been making a lot of changes recently so I've emailed their helpdesk to sort that out. I did use the email setup app on the phone to validate it.

Email said...
"Validate password for <email address> in the Blackberry Internet Service! Email messages from <email address> are not being delivered to your Blackberry device. To resume receiving email messages from this email address, validate the password for <email address> in the Blackberry Internet Service:
1. Open your Blackberry Internet Service account by completing one of the following actions:

*On the Home screen, click the Setup icon and click Email Account or Email Settings.
*Using a browser on your computer, visit the Blackberry Internet Service website.

2. Go to the Email Accounts page.
3. Edit <Email address>
4. Type the password
5. Click save.

Email Account Information:
Email Address: <email address>
Email Account Name: <email address>

You are ok. At least as far as that email and the directions in it.

As far as what happened. BIS may have repeatedly encountered errors with your university email inbox and timed out. And hence the email asking you to validate.

Sort out your university email login and then go back and validate the email in BIS.

I'll let you know how that goes- I'm having problems changing my password there but that could be because they've been playing around with the websites and things recently. Thanks for the help so far

I think that's your answer there. Keep trying at the university email account until it is back working, or call the help desk if there is one. Good luck.
