I have been trying to get this done for two day now, no results. I have tried everything i read about searching google.

How can this be fixed ? I can't log into YM from my 9800

your sure the ID and p/w are fine? can you logon to yahoo on your laptop?

have you tried reinstalling the Yahoo on your BB?

All is correct, mail works fine, on device and laptop, YM only on laptop. Deleted, reinstalled, did battery pull, nothing works. I did some research and there is lots of talk about this issue but no fix.

which version of yahoo IM you using? i have 2.5.69, which is the latest version

Downloaded it from appworld, so i figure it's the latest.

I did that too. Still nothing, this is frustrating !

how are you removing Yahoo from your BB?

are you just deleting and rebooting?

Go to
Options¬
Device¬
Application Management and delete yahoo.

reboot BB

Once restarted go to
Options¬
Device¬
Adavnced System Settings¬
Service Book¬
Look for the yahoo IM service book (it will have the letters BBIM in brackets at the end,
make sure its the yahoo service book you delete!

if you have more than one IM Service on your BB, open each service Book that has BBIM at the end and look for the word Yahoo, once found, delete it.

then reinstall yahoo from the app world

That is exactly how i deleted the app. But did not know about the service books, anyways i looked them up now and it shows nothing. I still can't get YM to work.

Yep, it's a common issue. If I've ever read the solution, I've forgotten.

I'm assuming Yahoo is supported in the country where your carrier is located. Is that true? No blocking or interference with the service by the carrier, either by carrier's policy or government regulation? (I know you've said where you are, but I don't recall it at the moment.)

Have you tried logging into yahoo on a computer, then logging out, and then trying again to log in on the BlackBerry?

No restriction for YM here. It works flawless on any other phone. I have tried everything. Changed my password to "all letters" (some say it works for them like this), logging out from my PC and others. No change in issue.

It may turn out to be a blessing for you, given your low data cap. YM, I believe, will be polling the network repeatedly while you are signed in (if you are ever able to sign in). That could potentially run up your mobile data useage. If you have to sign out all the time, what good would that do you? Just thoughts.

From my personal experience on my VZW Tour 9630 the issue seems to be related to the length of one's yahoo email address. I've had 2 "short" yahoo addresses (one was yahoo.com and the other rocketmail.com) work fine with YM 2.5.69 on my BB. Yesterday I created a new "long" (23 characters before @rocketmail.com) yahoo address and am now experiencing this issue for the first time.

I have followed the suggestion found at this link to no avail:

So just pointed out that in MY case when I had a "short" yahoo address (last yahoo account I had working was only 10 characters before @rocketmail.com) YM worked fine on my BB.
