You need to resend service books to your device. Then the browser will return.

Unfortunately, it didn't work. I don't know if the browser is missing due to my upgrading to the official TIM 4.5.0.52 today or if it's due to a simultaneous service plan change.

When I called Rogers tech support they said that I didn't have a service plan today (because when I changed plans from their old $100 one to the new $30 plan the change is effective at midnight so they killed the $100 plan earlier in the day.

Would not having a data plan mean you don't have the blackberry browser or did something go wrong with my .52 install?

I'm surprised it hasn't leaked out yet.

If you have no data plan, then you'll have no browser.

Thx again. At least I don't have to worry about whether my 4.5 install went wrong. Just an (unnecessary and stupid on Rogers part) wait until midnight... but I won't drift off-topic.

Incidentally, your guide to save memory is a godsend. Always the first printout that I pull out when I reinstall or upgrade the OS. Thx again!!

4.5.0.52 (75) is running really nicely on my 8320, but I have noticed one behaviour that's not working like it did in 4.2.2... I have set my right-side convenience button to bring up the task switcher, since I multitask constantly. This way I can switch tasks one-handed.

In 4.5, midp applications like jmIrc and Opera Mini do not bring up the task switcher from the convenience button, I have to use alt:-Escape.

Native apps like JiveTalk, Facebook, Internet Browser do bring up the task switcher from the convenience button. Not a show-stopper, but makes one-handed use near-impossible.

So who here has working UMA? I can use UMA just fine but I notice when I'm on a call with UMA and I go out of Wifi coverage the call drops. It also happens on my Dad's 8320 with OS 4.2. However when going from EDGE to UMA it transfers flawlessly.

Also I have this same issue on both my WAP54G v2 with DD-WRT v24 and my WRT54GL v2 with the same firmware. I've reset to factory defaults as well.

Anyone else having this kind of issue? Tmobile says its my router.

I have working UMA. I've had it on 4.2 and 4.5.0.52. It most likely is your router. Have you tried it at a local Starbucks?

No I haven't. I'm probably going to try that next. I just found it strange that it happened on two different routers.

If it works ok at a TMobile hotspot, then that narrows it down to your router/isp.

Battery life on this build isn't great. Has the new 69 build leaked out yet? :D (for the 8300)

Default Removing Quincy

This might be old news to some, but news to me and so I share

if you download MaxMem from berrycoder.com there is an option in there to delete Quincy and internal RIM apps

give it a go if you want to remove the stuff you want removed and then no longer worry about wanting to remove the stuff you want removed

Internal RIM apps can be simply and easily removed using Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel.

And, if one knows what they're doing, the RIM Internal Tools can be extracted out of the install .exe leaving only the OS .exe file.
