Default Copy txt from Doc or XLS to an SMS

Please Login to Remove!

Hello everyone,
This is my first post (and first blackberry). I got a bold and so far it is awesome.

This forum is huge but I could not find an answer to this one.

I offer customer support for an Internet Kiosk and calls divert to my BB, If a customer has a problem I may need to give them some free credit.
I have a list of credit codes in an xls spreadsheet and want to sms this code to them so they can use it.

All I want to do is copy / paste from the xls (or doc if needed) to an sms.
(and if I could paste it into a template sms that would be great to.... I am yet to figure out if that can be done...)

My BB Bold is straight out of the box. I have only had it for a few days. I am not really keen to buy additional software yet. I can view the xls fine but cannot copy/paste from it to an SMS ?

Thankyou for your assistance it is greatly appreciated

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 10000)

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe you should have docs to go on the Bold, so if you use Sheets to go to open the xls spreadshhet, go to menu key, edit mode and open the cell you desire, hold shift and scroll to select, then press menu copy. Open a new SMS and hit menu, paste.

Thanks for the prompt reply Nick,
I have tried that out every which way but it seems that it won't take the copied text from that app to an sms.... it can only be copy / pasted within the app.

go to the cell you want to copy, click the menu key and pick "Edit Cell" (must be in edit mode to see this choice). This will put the cursor on the top line and you can select the contents of that cell and copy and paste that into an SMS.

Hey there rjw,
seems pretty obvious now that I followed your instruction... like I said I am new to these. I was missing the Edit Cell bit.
that worked a treat .. thankyou....
Now to figure out sms templates... I am sure they are discussed here somewhere.
thanks again
