I do not believe there is an OS based way to accomplish what you are looking for (though it would be very nice).

The only I can think of is to create a new Profile and add all of your contacts as Exceptions and use the new profile. This has two obvious flaws, you have to add all of your contacts as exceptions, very time consuming, and second the exceptions override the Active Profile, which would eliminate a true silent mode on your phone.

Other than messing with your profiles, you'll need a 3rd party application to accomplish what you want.

Here's one I've tried; Antair Call Screener 2.0 : Handango

Good find. A bit pricey @ $49.

Agreed... ultimately why I didn't purchase it. I ended up going the youmail route and setting certain callers up as "ditchmail." This disallows them from leaving me a message. Eventually they stop calling

Very sweet, I just set up YouMail on my phone. That's pretty slick.

You can also register at The National Do Not Call Registry. You set your numbers (home, mobile, business, etc.) for life. The list is to advise telemarketers, under penalty of law, numbers that are not available for their business calls.

While the information is advised, calls can still happen. Also, businesses you are client of can still call, though you can request removal from their lists just by asking.

https://www.donotcall.gov/

I hope this helps.

i have a grandcentral number... its great. i can block certain numbers, send them a "this number has been disconnected" message, see a list of who called on the web etc... the service should be public soon
