Default Keyboard lock won't "hold"

Please Login to Remove!

My Curve has recently developed an annoying problem. I am trying to determine if it is a software problem, or a hardware problem that needs to be repaired.

Because I typically carry the BB in a jacket pocket, I typically lock the keyboard to avoid accidental keystrokes and phone calls. I programmed the left button to do the keyboard lock, and it works just fine--or at least it has. Now when I lock the keyboard (using either the left button or the menu), the hourglass appears momentarily and then the regular home menu appears. The BB is not locked. If I try to lock again, it is usually successful. But--and here's the problem--it doesn't stay locked. It will spontaneously unlock (it has nothing to do with calls coming in--I rarely use the BB as my phone).

This is a real problem for me and I am not sure how to proceed in fixing it. I have tried the usual "hard reboot" approaches, including taking out the SIM card. I haven't yet checked with any service technicians--I thought it would be best to check with the Forum before taking next steps.

Thanks for any advice all of you can offer.

Bruce

Have you installed anything new lately that might have caused this? I usually lock my BB all the time with the keyboard lock and have never experienced this at all...I have the "dial from homescreen" turned off and you can press "k" and it locks the keys

I haven't installed anything new. The only perturbation to my system was a call to AT&T while I was in Puerto Rico because I was having trouble making outgoing calls. They reset something in my account that required that I take out the battery. I can't imagine that could have somehow caused this problem, but... And, the irony: I still couldn't make calls from Puerto Rico, although I could receive them.

Default Problem fixed

Well, I updated the OS and the problem went away. That sounds as if something had become corrupted with the earlier OS. I don't understand it, but regardless am very happy that the keyboard lock works right again.
