Default Using iPhone on T-Mobile.

Does anyone have any experience using a t-mobile blackberry sim card with an unlocked iPhone? My understanding is that everything will work except for visual voicemail, is that true?

Assuming the above is correct, that leads to two important questions: (1) will one be able to get device OS upgrades from apple; and (2) will one be able to get 3rd party software OTA from apple? I would imagine the answer is no.

Wirelessly posted (Blackberry 857)

Basically, to get the OS updates, its going to lock your phone again. You can go to www.ziphone.com and get the unlock program, and them you can unlock/jailbreak/activate the phone, with the new OS. There is a way to update the OS, I think its ctrl and then click update, but I'm not sure.

As to the 3rd party software, if its jailbroken you can add all the apps directly from Installer. Most things you do to the phone through iTunes will lock the phone back, but its easy enough to unlock it again.

It works just fine, but you need to have a BB data plan or equivalent to use data features. T-Zones will not work because of the proxy requirement.

I agree that the updates will likely relock your phone, check the site cj posted.

The Apple App Store applications, not sure how that will work but I would not count on that working. The Music Store I don't think works on unlocked phones but im not sure on that one. And remember their is a big difference between the Installer.app applications and the new App store apps that are coming through apple.

I think it will take some time for the hackers to get through 2.0 software when it comes out, just have to wait and see.

T-zones does work. Just need to change a couple files.

The Happy Coder » t-zones (a.k.a. $5.99 Internet access) on the iPhone

It did not work for me (reliably anyway).

Thanks, all. Sounds like running a non-kosher iPhone should work, the big remaining question being will one be able to buy/download OTA from apple's forthcoming app store? Time will tell. All this just to stay clear of [expletive deleted] at&t.
