Default How to remove the auto password lock

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

First I must say this site is great! I was given a peal that had a failed upgrade. The phone was thought to be trash. However, I was able to search around, figure out how to wipe the phone and I'm reinstalling the OS right now.

However, I had to contact the previous owner for the phone password. I just assumed the OS clearing and reinstalling would clear that out as well. I managed to change the password, but really, I would like to have that disabled.

Anyone have any insight? The option to disable it is just no there.

There may be an IT Policy on the phone that mandates the use of a password. If that's the case search for "Removing IT Policy". Otherwise you can try Menu>options>Security and while on the enable disable field try hitting alt and see if the option to disable show up.

Hey,

Thank you very much for pointing me in the right direction! Indeed the phone had an IT policy and to your advise, I searched and found what I was looking for. The password is now disabled

I am thinking about using the pearl over my 8700c. The only thing that is really stopping me now is how you have to use both hands to unlock the keyboard. With my 8700c, you can use the "clicker" and choose unlock without have to press the star+green phone button.

Know of any shortcut for easy unlocking the keypad?

There are no shortcuts but with practice you will find that you can do it with on-hand. Also, shortcut to lock the device is press and hold the "*". You can also search for a program called Auto-lock by Metsfan and I think it will give you the capability of unlocking the device with a click and roll.
