Default 9630 question

Please Login to Remove!

I'm new and this may of been asked a million times already. However, I came across a Blackberry Tour 9630. Is it possible at all to use this phone on ATT's network with an ATT SIM card installed? What has to be done if it is possible.

Thanks guys,
Steve

Welcome to BBF. The GSM has to be unlocked and you have get the right service books. Our SEARCH feature is very useful:

Yup, if you're lucky it's already unlocked and all you have to do is slap your sim card in and go. If not you just have to get it unlocked. Most newer Tours are unlocked already.

Well it is a verizon phone with a bad esn. Will the SIM card override verizon's network and use atts?

OOOPs. Bad ESN means it is probably done for.

Not sure if a GSM carrier would allow it on either once it is blacklisted by one carrier.

Is it even possible to flash it to another cdma network like cricket and unlock the gsm.

Are blackberry's the only cdma world phones that also have a sim card slot for international gsm networks? They are the only phones I have seen with it.

I think I might just sell the 9630 as a bad esn phone on ebay, if I could flash it I would. A friend of mine just gave it to me, he bought it with the bad esn. I just noticed that it does not have wifi, please correct me if I'm wrong. You need wifi if your on atts network.

Thanks for the info guys,
Steve

You don't need WiFi for anything other than using the connection when cell data is not available.

Flashing to another carrier won't change the bad ESN. My advice is to give it back, toss it or use it as a paperweight. Not much good for anything else.

ESN dosn't matter at all. Just pop in your sim card and go. It's as simple as that.
