Please enlighten us.

It IS free to use with a corporate BlackBerry device. Not so much with a consumer device.

juwaak, did you see my screenshot above where the Sprint guy says they don't offer phone as a modem any longer? Is he misinformed or is it true?

I know for sure, a while back, they stopped allowing it with the 'everything data' type plans. Not sure if they stopped allowing it altogether, but I can check with my Sprint team to be sure.

IF someone gets it to work, well then yay for them....until Sprint sees it and either cuts them off at the knees and/or charge them per kb.

EDIT: I verified with my corporate Sprint team. They said tethering is only allowed on business lines now, no longer on personal lines.

Interesting, thanks. So now they are pushing the mobile broadband cards which requires an entirely separate plan, at least it does on VZW.

Yes, a card is a separate plan, and is btwn $50- $60/mo for 5Gig of 3G data. If you are in a 4G area, it's unlimited.

I'd love to see Sprint do with the 9650 what Verizon did with the Palm Pre/Pixi Plus: FREE mobile hotspot for the device. Tether to your Pre and use as much data as you want, for a cost of exactly $0.

I'm definitely not a corporate customer. All this was added back to my account around the time the Hero was released because I tried the Hero out on one of the anything plans and when I returned it I was able to get everything back the way it was (another thing frontline reps will tell you cannot be done)

You are on a grandfathered plan or got PAM added for $0.00. PAM is not available to consumers any more.

That's a sweet option, and the price is certainly right. Don't let that get away! Sprint doesn't offer that anymore. I sure wish they did.

And for someone who just joined Our site there is no need to dig up an old post that has absolutely nothing to do with you. And I would appreciate it if you have nothing related to the post to not answer and allow others to do so.

Default Tethering on a BB 9650 on Sprint

Look, I have been going crazy with this for a month. Sooner or later you just have to look at the time your wasting and put a price on it. Pay the $50.00 for tether and get on with your life. I installed it and it works like a charm. Perfect and you can go with USB or Bluetooth. Look, the time you are wasting trying all this stuff for free, just pay the 1 time fee of 50 and be done. It works and it works awesome.

Thats my 2 cents worth.
