What's up with that?!
This happens on mine and my fathers Storms also.

It's really annoying.

i was going to point out this very issue - the storm is borderline useless without that blue line -> black box edit trick and with a hover setting of 1000, it's practically faster to just backspace/delete a whole sentence and retype it. the hover setting has to be low in order to make that function worthwhile.

FYI- After upgrading my OS my storm crashed and I had to have it replaced by Verizon. My new storm (preinstalled w/.75) has a much better screen and is much more user friendly. Much easier to type. No need for the "business card trick" anymore

The 100/100/6 - Fast seems to work better for me.

UPDATE - For heavy SMS junkies like me

I tried the 100/100/6 and it was ok at first but just not exactly perfect.

I am now using 250/300/6 with Key Rate: Fast and there was a noticeable change.

I got that from Turtzilla on Crackberry. Try it out anyone and give me your opinion!

I had played with those setting a bit and ended up with 400, 100, 6, fast.

Hover period to 1000, was that an error, you have to hover forever, I can't imagine why you'd use such a high setting?

Default New BB Storm user

Hi, I'm new to this site.
I've just bought the BB Storm and although I think it's great, the battery life is a huge disappointment. I've made a few adjustments (brightness, keyboard etc) but I seem to run out of battery power in 2 days, is this the norm?

I got my storm two days ago.....i got rid of my voyager and I left the store with my new storm then too my wife to walmart and sat in the car and played with the phone while she shopped.....after 30 min I hated the storm and ran it back to my local Verizon dealer....he talked me into giving it some time and said it had a learning curve that takes a little time....a day later a still hated it until I read this thread...thanks so much because i really wanted to love this phone because how awesome it is..the screen i think is the best on the market
and now I can actually type with it and learn more constantly

"Open the BB menu by pressing the BB Menu button.
Scroll down to 'Options', select by pressing the icon.
Scroll to 'Screen/Keyboard' and select.
Scroll to 'Touchscreen'.

Increase the Tap Interval to 500.
Increase the Hover Period to 1000.
Increase the Swipe Sensitivity to High (6).
Key Rate to Fast."
Please issue your comments upon trying these settings.
I don't know where I should be, on which Icon, when I open the BB menu. It seems that with the Storm, I need to be on applications, media, messages or some particular area before I can get to the 'Options' could you please explain for this "old" guy.

Wait, you don't charge the thing every day and you think it's it problem the battery doesn't last that long?

I'd guess, yes it is totally and completely normal for the battery to not last two days.

Honestly, I think you're expectations are out of line. I never recall a phone never mind a pda I've owned that didn't need a charge every night. ?? is that normal??

mont,

"Options" should be its own icon on your homepage. When on the homepage, if you only see 1 or 2 rows of icons, click the screen and you should see a bunch more icons show up.

Scroll up/down thru those and look for the "Options" icon. Click it once you've found it. A list of options will come up. Scroll down in that list to find "Screen/Keyboard". Once you have the "Screen/Keyboard" list up, scroll down and look for the "Touchscreen" heading and you will see the Tap Interval, Hover period and Swipe Sensitivity options.

Hope this helps.

There have been several different settings suggested on this post, can you do a little better than say thanks ... that setting worked fine. Which setting are you referring too??? Please try to use a complete thought so we can have an idea about which of these several settings is best.

Thanks everyone for contributing ... just please try to be clearer when you say "that setting rocks".
