Default Please HELP - BB desktop manager-Palm Treo 650 to BB Curve 8310 does NOT work at all

Please Login to Remove!

Friends, After many years of using PALM PDA's decided to jump to BB world. I got a new BB Curve 8310 with a lot of initial excitement.

I have connected both of my Palm Treo 650 and BB Curve 8310 to the USB ports of my computer with BB desktop manager's "Device Switch wizard Tool" running. But BB's "Device Switch wizard Tool", "Select Desktop Organizer" options of "Palm or Windows Mobile" devices are dimmed out and not active/available to select.

I have to tell you that I am completely disillusioned and disappointed with BB Desktop Manager Software.
It seems that it was never tested at all and does not do the basic and simple syncing procedure that any PDA should do let alone so called king of PDA's BB.
I am NOT a novice user of PDA devices. Despite my many attempts I have not been able to transfer my data
(Address book, Calendar, MemoPad and Tasks) from my Palm Treo 650 to BB Curve 8310.

Could you HELP ME PLEASEEEEEE!!!!!!!

The BlackBerry Desktop Software is designed to be used with Microsoft Outlook, the default business solution for PIM data. There is no stand-alone calendar app or task/memo function in BlackBerry Desktop Software. The best way to get PIM data from one platform to another remains Outlook. Sync your Treo to Outlook, then sync the BlackBerry to it.

You should also know that BlackBerrys do not synchronize email. It gets sent to your device through a BlackBerry data plan, either BES or BIS. But then I'm sure, as an experienced user of PDA devices, you've done your research and already know this.

Hi rambo47,

Thanks for your reply. I truely appreciate it.
After my failed above attempts. I did take the rout of syncing my Palm data with outlook 2000 but I can only sync my BB's Address book BUT NOT Calendar, MemoPad and Tasks with BB Destop Manager. What do you suggest?

Thanks.

Only Address Book sees the Outlook2000, and is listed in the list of "Available list of Applications" with two way arrow <==>

Calendar, MemoPad and Tasks do not see the Outlook2000 in the list of "Available list of Applications".

Thanks.

Since you have Outlook 2000, you need to download and use Desktop Manager version 4.2 with Service Pack 2 and 3. Newer versions of DM only support Outlook 2003 and 2007.

I know you were typing this during an period of frustration, but now that you've had a chance to cool down, do you realize how ridiculous the above statement is? ;)

As per our earlier PM, here's the BBF FAQ covering the problem with Outlook 2000 and newer BlackBerry Desktop Software: I am unable to select MS Outlook 2000 for syncing - BlackBerryFAQ
