How do I roll back to OS5 in a 9700? OS6 is not what I want to use a phone for.

Simply uninstall the OS6 installation by going into Control Panel >Add/Remove Programs. Then download and install the OS5 version you want (unless it's still installed from a previous installation). Then plug in the device and run application loader again and it will downgrade.

Default Re: BlackBerry OS (and "Beta" OS) Upgrade on my Bold 9900

Hi John,
Can I updrade my Bold 9900 to the new OS on my Laptop Windows 7 Professional or using my desktop Windows XP Prof. I remember the last time updrading my 9780 using my Laptop Windows 7 Prof. I tried clicking the loader and it won't even updrade but when I did it on my desktop with Windows XP Prof. it was fine. Or I have to upgrade using the desktop manager on my Windows 7 Prof.? Please help. Thank you very much.

Only people I know who are getting that error message are trying to upgrade to the newest version from a leaked version of DM 7. I would uninstall DM and then download a fresh version from BB website.

You will have to use a 3rd party .ipd viewer/editor

You can search for one on Google. for ABC Converter or search for a BlackBerry BackUp Extractor available from here BlackBerry Backup Extractor for Windows and Mac

Also, I am pretty sure you can unzip the ipd file and view your contacts in Notepad or something, the formatting will be shot to heck, but you should be able to copy/paste your contacts as a last resort.

If you still have both devices then you can also perform a Device Switch from the DM

I am getting the prompt to download and install the new version when I start the Desktop Software.

Which you cannot seem to do because you get the error you mentioned earlier in the thread, correct?

Have you tried;
Not upgrading your current version. (I believe there was an Option to wait for later)
Uninstall DM from your computer and installing the newest version from RIM's website. You can download the newest version at https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/D...247A852FAD3647

Download the newest version of Desktop Manager from this link: https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/D...247A852FAD3647

If you already have it installed, then you can just run it, and it should ask you to upgrade to the newest version as well.

Hi John. I was just chatting on my phone when it started feeling weird. I returned to the home screen only to see the "Enterprise Activation: Encryption Key Regeneration" app pop out from nowhere. What is responsible and how do I get rid of it, as I use BIS and not BES..
