Default Other phones working on Verizon???

Please Login to Remove!

I did a search and didn't seem to find the answer, was wondering, I had heard that Verizon was going to open its networks to other phones, but it was going to be limited, does anyone know if t-mobile, att ect BB will work on their network?

no those phones will never work on VZWs network. The phones do not work off the same technology.

Wirelessly posted

Only CDMA devices would work, so that would limit you to sprint, Verizon, AllTel, bell mobility and Telus devices. Unless phone makers start selling unbranded devices which would be awesome.

Verizon is not required to allow any devices on their network besides their own (at the moment). They will be required to unlock devices in the future, but that is also not fully in effect.

But like dwp1975 only CDWA phones.

any device that meets a mythical technology standard set by guess who, Verizon. This is a way to say "we will decide what devices and what requirements for us to use unlocked devices"

Sprint has the same policy right now as well. It has to be a Sprint branded phone to get on their network - same with Verizon - it has to be a Verizon phone.

ATT and T-Mo are GSM devices. They will not work on the Sprint or Verizon CDMA network - totally different technology.

If the latest devices are a must-have then you should consider another carrier that tends to get the latest and greatest. There's not really much point in questioning why... They do what they do because they can and their customers continue to pony up the cash.

Exactly. Look how long it took Verizon to get the Curve, and now everyone is falling head-over-heels for it still. I used to get all the new phones right when they first came out, but I'm over that now I'll wait and see how things go and get one when they're cheaper. Having said that, the Curve is actually quite cheap if you are up for new-every-two.

Doesn't really bother me - anticipation is half the fun. I use Verizon for their superior network in my region. Coverage is the most important thing to me. Device choice is important, but secondary.
