Default Will the Blackberry Curve standup to the Construction Industry?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello
I am thinking of purchasing a Blackberry Curve.
I work in the construction business and need to know hoe this phone will standup to dusty enviroments?
I am thinking of purchasing a Zagg invisableshield:
ZAGG | invisibleSHIELD | BlackBerry 8310 Curve Cases, Screen Protectors, Covers, Shields, Skins, Invisible Shield
Will this product solve my problem?
Are keys still easily used?
I also plan on buying a case and holster which will allow the device to be put in with keys and screen facing inward to give even more protection?
I have also heard dust is a major problem for the trackball?
Are they cleanable, exchangeable?
Thank-you for any advice.

Definately look into an Otterbox. Here is one for the Curve:

I don't know about dust, but pocket lint sures screws up my trackball. I'm not sure how it will hold up to a dusty environment. They are easy to replace as I had to do that before. Cleaning is... well I never had any luck with cleaning mine.

Try Palm Treo !!

As Palm is Stylus based , it will be easier and safer for you to use a Palm

Yes, and if you drop and break a Treo you won't miss it nearly as much as you'd miss a BlackBerry device.

Default Otterbox will work

I work for a commercial construction company that does drywall so you know that we deal with a lot of dust. All of our supers have Curves and I bought all of them the otterbox because it really does cover the phone completely save a little of the trackwheel which. It adds a bit of weight and bulk to the phone but they can throw it across a building and there won't be a problem with the phone. You just have to hope that you don't have a problem with it and have to take the battery out because it takes a little bit. It has spots for all of the plugins for the phone that have rubber that totally closes them when not in use. If you don't mind something that weighs a bit more than most phones, it does well in the construction company.

I don't understand this logic. It's still susceptible to dust. The touch screen isn't going to hold up very well in a construction environment. How exactly would this be more durable?

These?
Naztech Technologies - Products

They may be cheaper but I don't see how these will help with dust. They're certainly not any more dust proof than the BB OEM holsters.

I'd also recommend the Otter Box.

Thanks for the heads up on Otterbox!!!! Looks like what I need for my Curve, just wish ot had a flip out cover for the track ball and keyboard. I haul oversize loads in the trucking industry, and I am always out in the blowing dust, rain, etc... checking my load and securment. I can't afford to miss a brokers call, so my BB needs to be with me 24/7.

I will still have to be careful, but this will make it a litle tougher.

thanks again.
