Default For Pilots: Fltplan.com's C0ckpit Airport/FBO Info Guide for BlackBerry

Please Login to Remove!

FltPlan.com C0ckpit Airport/FBO Guide.

Directions to Sync FltPlan's C0ckpit Airport/FBO Info Guide to BlackBerry's Pearl, Curve, & 8800 Series
NOTE: The C0ckpit Airport/FBO Info Guide will now work with BlackBerryxxx8217;s Pearl, Curve, and 8800 Series. A SD Card is required and you must download our Application onto your BlackBerry to get the Guide to work.
Download the zip file located Here (http://wh83.fltplan.com/fpap.zip) to your home computer (use SAVE).
Unzip the files by opening the zip folder and hitting extract all, then select a destination to extract the files.
The Steps Below are to Load the Guide onto Your SD Card if you do not have an SD Card Reader (Do not Use Media Manager to get the FPAP Folder onto your BlackBerry it will corrupt the files):
On your BlackBerry go into Settings, then into Options. Then select Media Card. Make sure that Support is On, Mass Storage Mode Support is On, and Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected is On or Prompt.

Make sure your BlackBerry is hooked up to the computer. The BlackBerry it will display a message xxx8220;Do you want to turn on Mass Storage Mode?xxx8221;

Select Yes and a window should pop up on the PC with the option to Open Folder to View Files.

Copy the extracted folder xxx8220;FPAPxxx8221; from the PC to the BlackBerry's SD Card Root Folder.

After the FPAP Folder has been loaded onto your SD Card, on your BlackBerry in your Browser type in the Address Bar the following link http://wh83.fltplan.com/bb/fpc.jad and a dialog will come up, select Download. You can also Download the link Here to you computer and load the File xxx8220;FPC.jadxxx8221; onto your SD Card and Locate the File while the SD Card is in your BlackBerry.
When the program is done downloading on your BlackBerry, select Run, then select Accept, and with your SD Card Inserted select Test. While testing a Message Box will pop up to allow the program to access the Guide from your Device, Select Allow and to make it more convenient you might also want to select to not display this again message again.
The Application will give you an Icon and will either place itself under Applications or on your Main Screen, it is called Flight Plan and will be the way to Access the Guide from your SD Card.
Note: Make sure the Final location of the "Airports.htm" file is on your SD Card immediately under the Folder FPAP. On your BlackBerry the Path should be "/Media Card/FPAP/Airports.htm" and to check that it is correct go to "Media" then hit the Menu Button, select Explore, slect Meida Card, Select FPAP, and the Files "Airports.htm" should be there. Open the "Airports.htm" File file and hit the Menu Button and Select Properties, it is here the File Path "/Media Card/FPAP/Airports.htm" is shown.

Updates are said to be done weekly.

*Note: Installing this app on OS 4.6 and higher devices causes the media card scan to not work correctly and some media will not show up in the Media app. To solve this problem, do the following:

1. Plug BB into the PC.
2. Browse to the FPAP folder
3. Right click on the FPAP folder and select the General tab.
4. Check the box that says "Hidden."

This will cause the device to skip the FPAP folder during the media card scan and all your other media will again show up in the Media application.

FltPlan.com ****pit Airport/FBO Info Guide.

This is the Logo for the Application.

I noticed that not all airports have airport diagrams. However, if you're any good with editing a webpage (I'm not but I just looked at the source code from a page that had a diagram in it and copied the source code for adding photo) you can add airport diagrams if you desire. I added a photo of my home airport by saving the pic off the web as KXXXapt.jpg into the pda folder with all the .htm files and .jpg files. Then I edited the corresponding airports .htm file to add the following code:

<br><img width=100% src=KXXXapt.jpg><br>

Voila! Airport photo in my Fltplan.com info on my BB.

It looks like they update the database every week. It's gonna be too much work to keep up with editing the code for pictures I want to add....It's nice though.

Default You had no problems loading this to your SD card?!

My Curve will not save the file in any other place but "My Pictures". I've loaded it using an SD Card Reader, and the USB Cable.

How did you do it?

Just follow the instructions there. I found that I had to actually create a folder called FPAP in the root directory of the card as the zip file didn't automatically create it. Then I extracted the files and placed them in that folder on the card.

Default A little clarity

When you say you "created" a file on the SD card, did you create a new, empty folder and save the "fpap" in there, or did you just extract the .zip file and copy and paste the "fpap" folder to the root directory of the memory card. Maybe I'm screwing up what folder(s) to put on the SD Card...

Thanks Again...

1. Download the .zip file from the fltplan.com website.
2. Extract it to anywhere you want on your PC. There should be two files and one folder that are contained in the zip and will be extracted.
3. Create a folder in the root directory of the memory card, meaning the path should look like F:/FPAP (your drive letter may vary depending on your computer)
4. Copy the two files and the folder that were extracted into that FPAP folder on your media card.

The instructions work except that when you extract the zip file the FPAP folder isn't automatically created. Just create it manually.

When updates come out (weekly, the site says) then just download the new zip, extract and copy the new files into the FPAP folder on the media card again. They should overwrite the old.

Make sure you have mass storage mode enabled as the instructions state, though.

Default I'm on the road

I'll be on the road for a bit, but I'll try that when I get back. I think what has been happening is that I have been using a path like "E:/fpap/fpap/...etc. I think i copied 2 folders on their by just copying and pasting it to the SD Card.

Is the software good? What are you flying? I'm in a 135 Hawker, so this kind of software is perfect for visiting all sorts of different airports...

If you haven't figured it out yet, don't put www at the beginning. Should be like this:

wh83.fltplan.com/bb/fpc.jad

Yeah, software is pretty good. It's nice for quickly looking up an FBO phone number and looking up some quick runway lengths for suitability, etc.

I'm in the G100 and G200.

Thanks John, I finally got it all loaded and it works.
I was able to download the program OTA once I got your corrected address for it.
I donwloaded the FPAP zip file onto my desktop.
I created a new folder called FPAP and extracted the zip file to my new folder on my desktop.
I opened "my computer" and found the drive for the media card(still in the blackberry).
Then In simply dragged the whole FPAP folder onto the nedia card. After 3-4 min the FPAP folder was on the media card.
I opened flight planner icon and there it all was.
Now if they can do the same thing for making out a flight plan. I can do it from my blackberry but it has to go throught thr web browser.
By the way, I fly a Cessna 172 and my brother pilots a 2007 Mooney Ovation withthe G1000, very sweet.
Thanks agin John.

Are you aware of these fltplan.com sites?

HTML Code:
http://www.fltplan.com/cell.htm
Brings up a page for quickly entering airport ID's for METAR's, TAF's, and NOTAM's. No login necessary. I use this daily!

HTML Code:
http://www.fltplan.com/pda.htm
This is a PDA formatted site for using your PDA to file flight plans, check weather, etc.
