I've only been here a week, so I haven't done much. I know a couple of people here, but they're all from work, so I don't really need to see them on the weekend too. They also all have wives and kids which limits their ability to hang out at night. My cousin also goes to university about 75km away, but she's 6 years younger than me, so I'm debating whether I really want to make the drive since she can't drink legally and I doubt any of her friends can either.

Hmmmmm... I know you posted a map of where Sumter is (somewhere) but cannot find it. Hopefully there is plenty of stuff round there to do, else 4 months might get hella boring.

1. MOT is an annual test on vehicles in the UK. They check that all the "major" stuff is working properly (brakes, steering, tyres, lights, fluids, wipers, roll cage and major car structure, etc.) If any part of your car fails the MOT, you need to fix it. In England, you MUST have insurance, and you can't get insurance without a valid MOT.
2. It depends on your definition of cool, although more Americans seem to like my accent than not. I'm a Londoner, so I think I have a cool accent (when I am sober). When I am pissed, I swear constantly, speak ridiculously fast and use nonsense colloquialisms that you don't find outside London - that's normally when most people lose the conversation with me, unless they are also from London.
3. It is a Volkswagen Polo. I love German cars. I can't see me ever owning something that is not a VW, Audi or Mercedes. Unless someone wants to buy me a Bugatti Veyron (although technically VW own Bugatti, so we're still playing the German car game there.)
4. Totally. You've gotta have a right-hand drive car in England, else those roundabouts would be SO leary. I can't imagine driving a left-hand drive car, I'd keep going to change gears and grabbing the door instead (pretty much all the cars here are manual gears).

thats not always the case, breaks squeak period, new or old, some dont some will, it could be just from the composition of the pads, and air temp/humidity etc.
some cars just squeak.

There are things to do, but they're all 60-75km away. :(
It will, unfortunately, be a very boring time for me unless I escape a few times.

True that. But my point is ONE reason breaks do squeal. I said "likely", not absolutely.

OK, so I was driving home from the supermarket today, and my engine warning light is back on. Same light as I saw when this problem started http://www.blackberryforums.com/off-...-question.html
I'm getting really cross with my Polo now.

It's styled like the Mercedes CLS class. Beautiful in person.

Why would you want a long car? That'd be a ***** to park in London. Really, I should just get a Smart Car. But I just couldn't do it.

Because we have roads that are made for non-skilled land yacht drivers here in the US, so it is ok.
It's not that big honestly. About the size of a BMW 3-series.
I drove a MINI for almost 2 years though, so I know about small cars, and Smart is just too small.
