Brief Overview
BlackBerry® users are not able to authenticate using their BlackBerry® ID while accessing the BlackBerry AppWorld™ storefront application on the device which have the following conditions:
- BES is setup to use a Proxy server for MDS Connection Service
- Direct connection to the internet is restricted within customer's environment
- BlackBerry Smartphone provisioning or IT Policy is restricting Internet connection to only go through BES
The BlackBerry ID portal requires a SSL connection and instead of requesting the connection via the proxy server (configured under the BlackBerry® MDS Connection Service on the BlackBerry® Enterprise Server), it is bypassing it and making a direct connection to the Internet. This behaviour is by design. By default, if there is a problem with the connection to the proxy server, the BlackBerry MDS Connection Service will attempt on its own a direct connection to the web site.
However, despite configuring the MDS Connection Service not to make a direct connection by changing its
rimpublic.property file using the flag below, it is still making a direct connection.
