Default EDGE speeds: Bluetooth modem v onboard browser

Please Login to Remove!

Has anyone noticed if the speeds via BT modem are slower than using the BB onboard browser directly?

My speed fluctuates so much that I cannot work it out. I am getting about 50% of the maximum available.

Anyone know any results?

If it is slower, is there any way of getting the full signal?

I seem to have struck out here. Maybe my question is a little garbled so ...

The Blackberry I am using is a Pearl 8220. I downloaded Xtreme Lab's Speed test app for the BB and got near the maximum for EDGE (256kbps - ish) 240kbps.

I have since tethered my Mac to use the Blackberry as a modem.

I have used different speed test such as Speedtest and Speakeasy Speed Test I saw that I am getting speeds of around 100kbps at best when tethered via USB and Bluetooth.

Assuming these test are nearly accurate is there anyway of increasing my speed via tethering?

I need that extra 100kbps.
