I spoke w/ Verizon Blackberry support and they are aware of the file issue and said they are working w/ Blackberry to correct the problem, but of course did not have a time frame as to when it would be fixed.

I'm running Vista Ultimate (32-bit) and this file installed successfully and updated my VZW 8830:

8830EFS_PBr4.2.2_rel271_PL3.0.0.67_A4.2.2.148.exe

Enjoy!

My first try to download this afternoon went fine. Update of the software took 37 minutes and all is well.

Wow. Just wow. I'm on Sprint and thought it would be a good idea to install this. After reading this thread I don't think I am going anywhere this "upgrade".

Default Ringer Volume in Holster is Louder

The ringer volume in the holster is louder after the upgrade. I had modified the settings previously and had "hearable" ringer volume.

My experience and your mileage may vary.

I upgraded my OS, called the global number to get the unlock code and was told no. They said I had to pay full retail price. Anyone else have luck getting the code w/o paying full retail?

I forgot to mention, I paid full retail...But I sold my 700p to blackberry tradeups and used the Verizon $100 mail in rebate.

Total cost to me for teh unlocked 8830? ~150.00. w00t!

So last night I was finally able to get the new OS to work. I didn't change anything from what I had done from any of my other attempts... wonder what was up with that. So far, the ringer is worse... and I haven't noticed anything else that is really different. I'm bummed.

I don't know if it's me but my bluetooth headset seems to work better it seems to be louder. I use the Moto H700 because it's easy to turn on and off always getting in and out of my car.
