Help please.

Please forgive my ignorance as I'm guessing there is something completely obvious in the installation instructions that I am completely oblivious to as I am having a tough time getting 4.5 installed on my Curve. I followed the instructions exactly...I believe

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8330:

1. Make sure you have the latest version of Desktop Manager installed. Get it here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...93E4F3BB068C22

Done, and my desktop manager works perfectly with 4.6.0.12

2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.

Done, downloaded and installed 4.5.0.101 to my laptop without a hitch

3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader

Done, even emptied the "trash" and checked the folder...no more vendor file

4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade....

All I get is a rather slow Synch. No option to upgrade.

Just how dumb am I? I've tried some of the suggestions posted for others with a similar problem and I still can't get 4.5 on my Curve. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

Smile help

Ok, I have done everything up to ugrading my device. I plugged my curve into my laptop, opened my desktop manager. It shows I have 4.5 but did not automatically prompt me to update my device. What do I do now to update 4.5 onto my curve.
I'm going through all the messages here, but haven't read them all yet, figured I'd post and see if I could get an answer faster then my reading.
Thanks...

I'm struggling to understand why people are having so many problems with installing this upgrade?

Here is my offer:

I will upgrade your BB for you - cost $25/per. Can be sent to my Paypal account. Send me your BB along with a postage paid return pkg. Your data is your resp, back it up before you send it.

Ok well I just called VZW Customer Care, got transferred to their BB Tech Support and was told VZW is not supporting this software yet. And since they are not it is not recommended downloading this to your device because if you do run software on your device that they do not support and say you end up having a problem with your device because of it, it essentially makes your manufacturers warranty null and void.
That being said, I'd still like to figure it out.

Don't call your carrier until you see the OS released on their website. You're on your own if/when you install this

I have a Verizon 8330 as well and when I went to download the new software my Desktop Manager said I'm already running the most current version available, but I've only got V. 4.3
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any resolutions?

Wink Latest OS: 8330 4.5.0.101/4.5.0.77 (Multilanguage)

Ok I need someones help. I have the 8310 through AT&T and I upgraded my OS to the 4.5 with no problem. I have a friend who has the 8330 through Sprint and she wanted the upgrade so I downloaded the appropriate OS for her phone and went to install it and it said Multilanguage but when i was prompted to download went into advanced options to unclick the other languages there was only Chinese and Japanese, and no English. Did I download the wrong one, will the latest OS not support her phone through Sprint. Sorry for the ignorance but I'm still a little new to this whole BB and upgrading business. Thanks in advanced for your help.

I'm not trying to sound condescending, but a Sprint device shipping with 4.3 isn't hard to believe. The latest version Sprint supports is 4.3.0.127.

Default Performance with 4.5?

I have previously tried some upgrades to 4.5 on my 8330. Since I don't want HTML (I prefer Empower Pro), or Docs to Go (Screen too small for editing docs), I went back to 4.3.

Of course I would always like to see better performance and more free memory. Does anyone know how the current version 4.5.077, affects performance and memory?

I upgraded to 4.5.0.77 the day after I got my VZ 8330 (mid-Sept), and as far as I can tell, it has worked just fine ever since. Did have one issue about a week ago where I lost roaming, then lost all data capabilities. Called VZ, they walked me through re-setting it, and all is fine again (even told them I was on the upgraded OS). Other than that, have found that I can not download E*Trade Mobile Pro because it says my OS is not officially supported. That's it. I'm a happy camper with the upgrade!

Every Curve except the 8330 has .81. I wonder when us 8330 owners are gonna see some love? :p

Default I didn't work

I downloaded as instructed.
Deleted the vendor xml file.
Restarted my pc as directed.
connected my BB to the pc.
opened my BB Desk Top Manager.

It did not prompt me to upgrade.
It synched my usual stuff.

But when all is said and done my BB is still on OS 4.3

Bummer

Any ideas?

Did you install the file that you downloaded to your computer before you deleted the vendor.xml and before you opened the BlackBerry Desktop Manager?

Did you try opening Application Loader? Sometimes it will recognize the new OS on your system that way. This is what I had to do last night on my mom's laptop running Vista before 4.5 would install to my 8320 (yes, I'm thread jumping around to help).

Default Nothing

The 4.5 is on my laptop and the Desk top manager icon is there.

When I plug my BB in it syncs my outlook blah blah blah but it doesn't do any of the things listed above to update my device.

!!!!!!!!!!!
