Hey guys what's up, I currently have the 8130 Pearl but just received my 8330 today and want to change my # over to the Curve, I called up Sprint, they have been very courteous but with all due respect half of their representatives don't know squat...

Can someone please tell me how to swap #'s from my Pearl over to the Curve?

Situation is this, I ordered 2 new phones for my parents, Samsung M520 and the Blackberry Curve, the Curve is for myself which I will swap, and the Pearl I will sell and get a normal phone for my father since he has no use for a BB...

How to change the # from my Pearl over to the Curve, I know it can be done, too bad Sprint doesn't know how to....

Also is it possible to keep my same Pin # from my Pearl into the Curve or is that not possible???

Your carrier has to do the phone number switch. They do know how.

The PIN is tied to the device and cannot be switched.

John Clark is correct, Sprint has to do the numbe switch. How in the world do they not know how to do it? I just switched from the pearl to the curve a few months ago and did the change via a rep. You also have the option to do it online via their website, at the time of my switch that option was being worked on but check on it. I'd probably call back during the day when you get a CR from the US instead of overseas perhaps.

I know with Verizon you can just go online and activate a phone, does Sprint offer the same? You may have to initially activate the hardware on the line you upgraded. For example:

My pearl was destroyed in salt water. I purchased a new curve using an available upgrade on one of my lines. I had to activate the curve on that number first, before activating it my personal number.

On Sprint, you have just confused them but they can do it. The reason for the confusion is that they may have already programmed your new phone. What they have to do is do an ESN swap to a dummy phone, then switch your phone to the Curve and then the dummy number back to the pearl unless you already have the phone for your father. If you already have the normal phone for your father, it would make it so much easier. So, call cust service and tell them you need to do an ESN swap. You will have to give them the #s etc and go thru the routine - they may also have to swap you to the data switching dept which will provision / change the data from one phone to the other.

I am a T-Mobile customer and just upgraded from the Pearl to the Curve 2 days ago. After I purchased the phone I just switched out the SIM card from the Pearl to the Curve. I didn't have to do anything else except for transferring my content from the Pearl to the Curve using the DM. It seems odd that Sprint would have to do something else on their end in order to complete the switchover.

You can do an ESN swap online too if you prefer (change number to your new phone).
Blackberry Support from Sprint is another option.

The process of changing your number from the Pearl to your new Curve isn't THAT aggravating, if you do it online. Its a bit of a hassle, and you gotta be the one to do it. Of course, if you call a rep. to do it (which I did, after my computer made the process more difficult), you won't have any of the hassle, except for dealing with them.

For me, having someone else pushing the buttons was the way to go - got the problem solved and I wasn't stuck at a keyboard with my phone not working.

Sprint/Verizon/Alltel doesn't use sim cards. So it's not that easy for everyone using those carriers.

Which is one of the best reasons I can think of not to switch. I love having the freedom to switch devices on a whim.

I'm new to sprint and have not swapped phones yet, but I do know that the option is there online when I log into my account. I read a post in another forum where a guy stated that he is always tinkering with his devices and has changed them online multple times in 1 day without any troubles or even hassles from Sprint.
