Iphone SIRI for the Blackberry?
Please Login to Remove!
Hi all,
Is there anything similar to the iPhone 4s SIRI that will work on the Blackberry?
Thanks,

Re: Iphone SIRI for the Blackberry?
Nothing a comprehensive as Siri, but Vlingo is probably as close as you're going to get.

Re: Iphone SIRI for the Blackberry?
Drive Safely sucks--free or not! Text and Drive though rated high froze up my 9810. DriveCarefully is a good app for receiving text and email messages but you can't reply. Vilingo free is a good app for receiving and sending to anyone on BB that also has Vlingo-free, and for receiving emails and texts, but if you upgrade to Vlingo Plus (soon to be a free complimentary app) you can send and receive to anyone, whether they are on Vlingo or not.--Still not Siri unfortunately.
I know you can download SIRI for Android phones b/c a friend just did, so it's not just for iPhones. Also, my friend can use BB Messenger on his new Bionic Droid from Motorola, so they are sharing BB technology with droids!

Re: Iphone SIRI for the Blackberry?
You cannot download Siri onto Android. It is only for iOS devices. I have an Android device and there are apps that try to mimic Siri such as iRis and SpeakToIt. While entertaining with their answers and their conversational ability, they are nowhere near as robust as Siri.

Re: Iphone SIRI for the Blackberry?
This guy has no clue as to what he is talking about. Apparently Apple and RIM allow their OS Specific applications on Android devices.
I also downloaded Windows 8 on my Android device, so MS, where the BB love?

You must install IOS 5 on your router, and CatOS on your iPhone.

Re: Iphone SIRI for the Blackberry?
There's no doubt that Siri is more sophisticated, but after trying out the free version of Vlingo (and eagerly waiting the free upgrade to be posted from RIM), I honestly think that in terms of day-to-day usage and ability to enhance my efficiency, that Vlingo is almost as good as Siri.
The Siri add shows someone saying "I'm locked out" and Siri returns a list of nearby locksmiths. If you say "I'm locked out" to Vlingo, you get back more things - not only locksmiths but eHow articles on locks, etc etc. BUT, if you say "locksmiths" to Vlingo, then you get back a distance-ordered list of locksmiths, which is exactly what you want. So, ask yourself, would you be more likely with your phone (or your computer) to say or type "I'm locked out" or are you used to a search for "locksmiths" and would actually be just as likely, or more, to say that?
If, like me, you think being able to say "locksmiths" to your phone and have it return a distance-ordered list - and being able to say "call Bob cell" or "call Bob mobile" (it understands either word) and have it instantly place the call - is very good functionality, then definitely check out Vlingo!
(Disclaimer - I have no ownership/interest/financial stake in Vlingo)

Difference is that vlingo has been around as long as the Earth(I keed!!), Siri? Not so much. Give it time, Siri will make vlingo look like a a rider on the short bus.
Don't get me wrong though. I use vlingo and DriveSafe.ly, they both do what they say they do. I always thought Nuance (Dragon Naturally Speaking/ Dragon Dictate etc...) would partner with RIM long before anyone else. It seems like Apple tried vlingo as well, and went with Nuance.

Uhh, yeah, because newly introduced things will always end up being better than the tried & true things with many revisions - just because they're new.
As "logic" goes - well, that's not logic.
At the moment, its those "riders on the short bus" that Siri appears to be aimed at. You know, those who are incompetent at basic internet searches and want to whine "I'm locked out" to their phone rather than saying "locksmith" since that's what they're needing!

Not really what I said. It's all good though. We'll save a seat for you on the bus.

Glad to see the tacit admission that you're already aboard.
