I guess I have to wait until you install it on your Bold. I just installed mine (8900 version) and there's a noticeable gap between the silver ring and the hole where the trackball comes out of. It didn't have that gap with the original trackball with white ring.

i just ordered the g1 all black trackball..this one comes with a black ring..i used the 2day shipping also so i should have it in 2 days ..ill let you guys know how it turns out

Correct. The LCD is one piece, unlike other BBs where there is a lens over the LCD.

thats good to know. I read somewhere that it was still possible for tiny pieces of dust to get in the screen and that you should take the phone apart in a dust free (clean) area, guess i got something else confused with this. Hoping this process is alot easier than the curves. Btw, does anyone have the picture of the sticker that checks if the warranty has been voided?

The glass is part of the LCD, so there is no way dust can get between the glass and the screen.

If you take off the battery door and are looking at the back of the device, the sticker is covering the screw on the right side in the middle.

No, that trackball will work just fine. I just like the G1 better because it has a black ring instead of silver.
