ATT not ready for primetime, as we all know. They probably don't care a lot either. They have the iPhone for people to buy for the holiday spree if they don't release the Bold in time. What they fear is that people who are first time smartphone users will bring it back or call and overload their CS system and get very bad press which will not only kill a lot of Bold business but kill some other ATT business and steer it over to Verizon. Remember, carriers now are making their money in 2 areas: getting people to switch to them because of the advertising and cool gadgets, and adding data contracts to peoples phones.

I'm still in belief that the delayed release is for At&t to maximize iphone sales. While att may think they get more iphone sales, I think it just creates more hatred for that kiddish device.

I think this is one of the most botched releases I have seen. Now I understand the argument that since they never stated a date, it isn't really delayed. However that is only from the consumers perspective. If you recall earlier this year the ATT roadmap stated a summer release for this device. So from an internal perspective, the device has been delayed. Whatever the speculated reason is, iPhone sales, battery issues, OS stability, bandwith, etc. etc. The fact remains that ATT is releasing this device one to two quarters after what they probably outlined during their 2008 release schedule.

iPhone sales = Likely
battery issues = I got one, last two days with no issues;
OS stability = This is a Blackberry, it's as stable as my previous curve;
bandwith = another likely

It's late, and we don't know why. Do yourselves a favor and get one unlocked...the Bold will be released eventualy, and by then maybe Javellin will be out making the Bold old news...and then there will be the next one...and the next one...no one can keep up with these things anymore...
All in all, what's for sure is that AT&T screwed the release of the Bold in the US....

AT&T definitely botched this launch. I would rather wait though than drop a large wad of cash on an unlocked Bold.

Welcome!

Not a single negative, other than paying full price. Excellent phone, great features, its everything I thought it would be without the massive at&t delay.

Now that we know Tmobile will have 3g by Oct 22nd. Does anyone know if Tmobile will get the bold?

Not this year. They're getting the new 2g Curve/Javelin sooner than the Bold. Their 3g network isn't anywhere nearly as wide as ATTs. They're releasing the Googlephone in October on 3g, we'll see how that shapes up.

its a slight possibility but 0% this year as they would have to make a Bold with Tmo's 3G frequency. I really don't see RIM making a new Bold JUST for Tmo. I do believe they're the ONLY carrier with the 1700 band 3G freq.

Can anyone enlighten us...why in heaven's name did TMo chose that band? I don't know of any other country (other than Japan) that uses it....this means manufacturers will have to make special phones for TMo USA.....which to me means...you are s#@* out of luck T Mobile subscribers....

I just saw another article that is now saying the Oct. 20th for Bold that is listed here on BBForums...
This saga will never end until we all can go see the dang thing at the At&t store! (lol)
