Default Black TMobile Blackberry Pearl Gmail Problems :(

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone...just wanted to thank everyone ahead of time for all the help that you provide on this site! I purchased a white blackbery pearl for Tmobile a few months ago but lost it two days ago so when I had to replace it, I went for the black one instead because of the more 'mature' look...

Anyways, I did a lot of google searches but found nothing on this topic so thought I'd suck it all in and ask all you knowledgeable blackberry people ;)

So just the facts: I used to have a white blackberry pearl and was able to use the Gmail app, jivetalk, opera mini, etc.

Now I have the black one and one big difference I noted was that the web browser that normally came with the blackberry pearl was not there. Not a big deal, I downloaded the operamini and transfered it over with a cable. Noticing that I could not connect to the net, I recalled that I had to go to Options > Advanced Options > TCP in order to manually type in wap.voicestream.com in order to get the internet to work (I pay $19.99 for the add-on service).

With that said, I'm able to use T-zones, Opera Mini as well as Jivetalk without any problems! BUT...when I try to use Gmail (which, as I mentioned before, I had absolutely no problems using on my white blackberry) is not working and when I try to log in...it gives me this message:

Uncaught exception: net.rim.device.api.system. ControlledAccessException

It goes to this message RIGHT away which indicates to me that it can't even connect to the internet. I have tried many ways to go around this...I've tried uninstalling, doing a hard reset, then downloading/installing and then doing a hard reset. Nothing works, I still continue to get this message!

Just wondering if anyone on this forum has either gone through this problem and resolved it...or if any of you smart blackberry guys/gals may have a solution to my problem since I LOVE using gmail on my blackberry :(

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!!!!

Do two things, one of them will likely fix it.

Go to Options > Advanced > Host Routing Table. Click to Register Now.

Go to your BIS website at TMO (see link below) sign in and go to support for your phone, and click Service Books > Send Now.
Main Page - BlackBerryFAQ

Pull the battery on the 8100 and let it reboot. You should get a welcome message from TMo, and heopfully your browser will work.

Good luck.

right, but its trying to use the internet to get to gmail. have you resent your service books? then you'll have your usual internet and your gmail app should work too.
let us know if it works.

SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!

Solution: Okay, I was VERY reluctant to call T-mobile since the Gmail App was a 3rd party app BUT...I gave in since I didn't know what to do...

SOOOO...basically my problem was unique because I had a Blackberry Pearl before and I got a new one but the new PIN and IMEI numbers was not updated with T-mobile so all I did was do that, did a hard reset (actually took out my battery EVEN THOUGH I have the SoftReset program hehe) and WALA!!!!!!! It worked!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE FOR TRYING!!
