Default Compatible bluetooth headset?

Please Login to Remove!

The following item on ebay -- 9714415570 (I'd provide the URL but I'm not allowed yet :( ) -- says that it's compatible with a variety of blackberry models. Is it also compatible with the 8700? It's a Motorola HS801 Bluetooth headset.

thnx,
Christoph

for the most part, bluetooth is bluetooth and will work. Some just work better than others. I personally have tried at least 5 different sets and I have settled on these.

I love it

Well, the problem is that I saw that it was compatible with older BBs so I assumed (know what happens when you do that...:( ) it was compatible with the 8700. Based on that assumption, I bought it. However, I can't get it to work with my 8700. It's fully charged but when the 8700 searches for divices, it doesn't find anything even if I have them right next to each other. Is there anything special I need to do (apart from turning BT on) to get it so that the BB finds the headset? Any software I need to load? I'm using BB OS v4.1.0.284 (Platform 2.0.0.120) -- at least, I think that's the right information.

What am I doing wrong?

thnx,
Christoph

-- and no, instructions did not come with the headset. :(

You need to turn the headset off and then press and hold the power button until a steady (Blue i think) light comes on and stays continuously lit. then search.

it is called putting the BTHS in to pairing mode

on most BT headsets you have to hold a combo of buttons to set it to pair.. on my Plantronics 510 I thought the BB didn't recognize it until I dug up the manual again and found out I had to hold the talk button along with the Up volume button until it blinked.. the BB picked it up right away after that..
