Hallo guys, first of all, I'd like to excuse for my sort of stupid questions, as i say in the header i'm an BB Virgin
My friend has offered me a Blackberry Bold 9000 in nearly mint condition at very reasonable price, right now I have Nokia 6300 for calling, texting and camera and iPod touch 2Gen 32GB for music, games and wireless (I'm a student, so I couldn't afford a 32GB iPhone).
Right now, I don't know if I should get the blackberry, therefore I have a few questions about it:
1) Is it capable of processing 32GB microSD card? If so, is the card reading fast or slow?
2) How good is the sound quality and music player in general, compared to the iPod? And what about battery life while playing mp3s?
3) I read some article about Blackberry App store, does it work on 9000?
4) What about updating the system? Is it possible to have BB OS6 on 9000?

1) 32G yes.... Not sure what you mean by reading fast or slow.
2) dont know
3)app world works fine as long as you have a Blackberry Data Plan.
4)9000 doesn't have enough horsepower to run os6

1. OS 4.6 supports a 32 GB micro SC card, but those are really expensive.

2. Sound is OK. Won't compare to the iPod as that is made for music.

3. App store works in most countries (UK included) but you need the BB data plan.

4. No OS 6 for the 9000 as it doesn't have the processor or memory. See the yellow sticky at the top of the 9000 section for the latest OS and instructions.

And read this before acquiring any used BB, via eBay or where ever. It has stuff you need to know as buying a used BB is not as simple as buying a used cell phone. Buying a BlackBerry off eBay - BlackBerryFAQ

About buying the BB - i'm buying it from my close friends, so if there will be some kind of problem, I can return it.

What do you guys think, is it good idea to switch from my current Nokia + Ipod to BB?

Nope. If you plan to use your blackberry like an ipod, you'll find battery life appalling.
You'll end up going back to your ipod for music.

BB is first off, a phone & a communication device with excellent encryption tech. (Its primary function)

....the music & media capabilities are secondary.

Although having said that, I play my 300+ mp3 on my BB through a BT device to my trucks stereo and it's actually quite good quality..as for battery life, I plug it in when I do that. I cant comment on whether the sound quality is better or worse than an iPod as I've never owned one...and likely wouldn't be able to tell the difference anyway - been to way too many loud concerts over the years.!
