I noticed that when I went and upgraded my Verizon 8330 to the 5.0 operating system, that on the top of my phone it read 3G. I was made to believe that the my Verizon Blackberry has always been running on 3G, but was reading 1XEV. Now can someone tell me if this visual 3G was something that that they replace the 1XEV with or is my Blackberry being upgraded to the 3G network upon the 5.0 upgrade?

1XEV is the same thing as 3G, the difference is just basically eye candy. If I am correct (3G) is only installed on the official Verizon OS (branded) by Verizon.

Thank you for your replies. It was something that I was thinking all along, that they decided to have the 3G replace the 1KEV, so that they would stop the flow of people from asking wither or not they have the 3G network.
