Default What's the difference?

Please Login to Remove!

I went to the local VZW store today and was inquiring about the pearl. I also wanted to see if they would go ahead and let me use my new-every-two credit early (28 days)....of course they wouldn't. But I was asking about the differences between the 29.00 data package and the 49.99 data package. He was telling me the difference was a corporate vs. personal. Is this right, and what is the difference. With my company they use an exchange server for our email system. Would that make a difference on which package I choose?

49.99 allows connection to a BES and i believe includes unlimited phone as a modem.

On Verizon, the BES plan does not include any tethering.
Tethering is a $15.00 option to add on.

So it looks like if I want to get work emails I would have to go with the 49.99 data plan...correct?

no necessarily. Only if your work uses a blackberry enterprise server. If they do not you should be fine with the BIS option. And thank you for the clarification on the BES plan

Not necessarilly.
If your company uses BES, and you want your device on the BES... then yes, you'd need the more expensive plan.

If your company allows you to get your email using OWA ... the you could get your email with BIS, using the less expensive plan. Check with your network admin.

BES will give you many more features, such as wireless address book, calendar, tasks and memo sync.

Default Switch to Sprint

They have the BES plan for $39.99 per month, and that INCLUDES tethering. Plus, the Pearl is free after rebate if you get it through Amazon or wirefly.

This can be confusing, so just mentioning it to make sure it's clear. You can get corporate email under the cheaper "BIS" ($29.99) plan...as long as your corporation provides access to your email via OWA (Outlook Web Access) or IMAP. I get my company Outlook Exchange email on my Pearl via IMAP using BIS ($29.99 plan). I also get personal email as well, of course.

We also have OWA access, but it is secure access only (requires a digital badge on the computer) and doesn't work via the BB.
