Outlook Address Book Sync Issues
Please Login to Remove!
I've searched for the issue, but no luck so far, so I'm posting a new topic. Really sorry if it's a dupe.
I have a BB 8100 and Installed Desktop Software 4.2.
Set up the sync for Outlook (2007 - Beta 2).
Calendar, Memos and Tasks Sync fine.
Contacts/Address Book - gets to 104 records out of XXX and then i get "the application has crashed - debug, end, send error report to microsoft" message.
Any ideas on what I could doto resolve the issue? I'm on hold with support at the moment (43mins and counting) but I have faith in the forums .

To be fair you're pushing the envelope a bit as Desktop Manager 4.2 is brand spanking new and Outlook 2007 is even further away! I got Desktop Manager 4.1 running on Outlook 2007 beta pretty seemlessly despite the ocassional calendar issue, but have not tested 4.2 yet. You might have to wait on this one as I doubt there are many people who have run this configuration. I am inclinded to think it's an Outlook thing rather than a Desktop Manager thing causing your issue.

Resolved
Hi Everyone, after a hell of a long wait with Blackberry I got through. The technician at the other end was well worth it. Problem resolved. The problem was attachments with contacts (bogus pictures that were attched to the contact).
Went through all my contacts and deleted the attachments - sync'd like a dream.
Outlook 2007 Beta 2, Desktop Maanger 4.2, BB Pearl/8100 does work

Blackberry 7130e not finishing CONTACT sync with outlook
I have recently started using the BLB 7130E and sync to MS OUTLOOK 2003. The Desktop Manager handles the intellisync well , doing the tasks, calender, etc, untill contacts. After 1210 contacts it gives me a message" unable to write or update application data", and I don't think it is due to lack of memory, as I can still add new contacts into the handheld directly.
None of the contacts that are not syncing have any attachements as the original poster had (as far as I can tell, HOW would I know?)
Thanks in advance for any help

Got The Answer Thanx!! Here It Is>
It is probably stopping at the same point each time you try to sync.
This means for some reason that particular contact is, according to the blackberry, corrupt.
Solution: Open desktop manager>
when device is connected, open intellisync>
click on “Configure PIM” >
with Address Book highlighted, click on dropdown menu “Configure” and click “Advanced Settings”>
In “confirmation” tab put a check in both boxes >
NOW save settings and RUN SYNC.>
when it reached the point of adding new contacts it will ask for confirmation>
DON’T CONFIRM, rather click “DETAILS” and note which is the next contact it was going to add- THIS IS THE CORRUPTED CONTACT->
go to outlook and delete this contact.>
IT should now work, and later Add the contact back into outlook and sync again. You may have to go through the process a few times to get rid of all “corrupted” contacts.
HOPE THIS HELPS, It worked for ME!!!

Blackberry 7100v and Outlook 2007 Beta2TR

Lol, I am a tech junie and now is using 4.2 with my 7100v and sync with Outlook2007 Beta2TR (ie the Technical Release).
From my experience on my computer, Outlook2007 tends to 'corrupt' the data on itself and I need to repair it frequently with the scanpst.exe file in the Office folder. Else it won't sync.
If it encounters the 'sync' problem as mentioned by many others, just do a re-sync again. make sure you have plenty of memory on the handheld (ie delete junk info).
The purpose of this message is to let others know that 4.2 works okay with Outlook 2007 beta2TR

Hey all - I'm experiencing the exact same problem (BB 8100 with Outlook 2007 beta). Everything syncs great except for Contacts, which stop at 250 and then the Desktop Manager crashes. I've tried deleting the attachments as indicated in this thread, but I still can't past contact # 250. Any other ideas? Thanks!

It surprises me to see how many newbies out there run Beta software products in production and expect the world to support them when something doesn't work correctly.
To make it work uninstall Office 2007 and reinstall Office 2003. If you are really serious about testing out Office 2007 install VMWare Server 1.0.x which if free, Windows XP, and Office 2007 that way can play with it without having to worry about it effecting your everday life. ;)

Though I hear what you're saying, this problem only started with my new Pearl. Prior to this, my 7105t never had a problem at all. Given that history, it's not unreasonable to expect the UPDATED BB software to then start giving problems. Seems like that's going backwards.

Calendar Sync - application crashes (solution)
for my setup - 8700c with outlook it has nothing to do with the software version..
1. go through your outlook calendar file and find all messages with attachments
2. delete them
3. do the same for rich html.. cut it and paste special as unformatted txt..
then restart everything.. it will sync without crashing..

Since HH OS 4.1 any contact in Outlook with nothing in either the first, last, or company name fields will cause the "unable to Write or update application data" error. Also certain "invalid characters" may also cause the error

I have an 8700g and use Outlook 2003. I just upgraded to desktop 4.2 and started seeing the same crashes that everyone is talking about. Sometimes it's calendar entries, other times its contacts. When I disable one, the other will casuse a crash and vice versa. I have removed all but 5 calendar entries that I entered on my handheld and those are still causing it to crash.
What's more, I can drop back to the desktop 4.1 and everything works just fine. No crashes, everything sync, etc. Seems to me like a lot of the issues are all related around the 4.2 OS. I have followed every trick (removing attachments, html formatting, etc) and nothing works. And to make matters worse it is sporadic. I can do go a day or two with no issues, then BLAM, a crash. Dropping back to desktop 4.1 is the only thing that has worked for me.

BB 8100 Outlook 2003 sp2 DM v.4.2 Crash Sync Error
PLEASE HELP !!!!
I've been reading forums for 2 days straight trying to figure out how to solve the Windows error I get when trying to sync Outlook 2003 (sp2) with the DM v. 4.2.0.14.
I've installed it on another Notebook and all ok, but with mine, crash...
Here is the error header from microsoft:
AppName: desktopmgr.exe AppVer: 4.2.0.14 ModName: mapistub.dll
ModVer: 1.0.2536.0 Offset: 0000190d
This is the DM info:
BB DM V.4.2.0.14 Aug 27 2006
Muchas Gracias!

Running Outlook 2007 ver12; desktop manger 4.2.2.14.
My issue is that I cannot have outlook2007 open and sync with bb 8700c at the same time or Desktop manger crashes. If I close outlook2007 I can sync with usb or Bluetooth just fine.
Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
Matt.

I ran SCANPST.EXE which repairs outlook files so that the synch can work again. Do a search and you will find it. From there I opened the file Outlook.pst (or it could be another *.pst file) that should be located in your Application Data.
