Hi everybody,
I have just bought an old Blackberry, that is the Blackberry R957-M2-5 with the cradle can connect to PC through the COM port and USB port included (1 cradle with COM port & 1 cable USB connect to the cradle ).
I installed the Blackberry Desktop Manager 4.1 on my computer.
When I connected the Blackberry to my computer through the COM port, my computer could not find the device although I set up the COM or USB connections on the tab Options/Connection Settings of Blackberry Desktop Manager.
With the USB connection, the computer hardware detect could not find the USB 2.0 ser! driver show the warning "The new hardware might not work properly"
I dont' know what is the USB 2.0 ser! driver and where can I download it?
May you help me fixing this problem ?

That device is so old, I doubt that there are any USB drivers out there.

Have you tried a Google search or checked out the RIM download and support site?

I have just found something related to my device in the link below on the forum.

And I think that the software Blackberry Desktop Manager 4.1 on my computer is not compatible to the device .
In the link show that my computer will connect to the device with the installed BDM version 2.0 to version 2.7* (RIM 957 / version 2.0 to version 2.7*), but I could not find the link to download this BDM version, maybe it is old.
Do you know this BDM , and upload the link on here ?

Please note that it is highly unlikely that the old networks that this used are still in operation, or that you can get a data plan on them. The 957 was not a GSM or CDMA device. It used an old paging network called Mobitext.

I had to install the handheld software for the 957 to get it to work with DM 4.7, but I was able to see the deivce once I did.

I presume you're trying to recover old data from the unit?
