Default What is this new icon that showed up today?

Please Login to Remove!

I noticed a new icon on my Tour this morning. It is a mini blackberry with a red/white new message type star on it. It seems like it is a wireless update icon for new software. It says my current version is 4.7.1.57. In blue, "Update to: 5.0.0.484" is highlighted. When I click that, I get the "Submitting Update Request" white screen and it seems to be submitting, but then I get a message saying "Update request failed. Try again later or update using Blackberry Desktop Manager on your computer."

I backed up my phone on the computer today and checked for new updates under Applications and there are none.

Can anyone please help me?

Back up your applications and data, use JL commander or BBsak to wipe the deice, disconnect from the internet, and use Apploader or BBsak to load new OS. It should work.

Default too nervous

No, it's not been like this for the past 3 days. Just popped up this morning.

I'm too nervous to wipe out the whole device. I don't know what JL commander or BBsak even are. Is this update a necessary one? I guess I'll go to the sprint store and have them do it.

Sounds like a notification for an update to BB Messenger. The old version was causing some of the data outages RIM experienced recently and they recommended everyone upgrade to the new version. I believe you can do the update through App World.

I think that icon is letting you know there is an update for one of your apps you downloaded in app world. open app world and go to the bottom far right icon "my world" in there you will probably see an update you can download.

"My World" only shows my recent Downloads. nothing about new updates updates.

Right. And if you have an update for any of those recent downloads there will be a red asterisk by that in your download list. You can then select that app and download the update.
