Question Won't connect to GPRS?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello Everyone,
I purchased the TOUR for my husband who is stationed in Afghantistan. It's been wonderful! He's able to check his emails, web surf and best part is we talk back and forth all the time on the BB messanger.

As of about 2 days ago he called from another phone saying that his blackberry's network stream says GSM instead of GPRS.. Since it's switched over he has no connection to any internet or BB messanger.
I called Verizon and they said if he has moved he probably moved to bad connection area... He hasn't moved at all.. I had him take the battery out to restart it and still nothing...

So, is it just all of a sudden a bad connection out there? and hopefully it will reconnect soon. Or is there something he can do to reconnect to the GPRS?

Thank you so much for any responses!

Wirelessly posted (blowin' in the wind)

For what it's worth, I'm guessing it's the carrier or network, something along those lines, and not the device. It would be nice if there were others on data with the same carrier to compare. Your
husband could try another battery pull but wait a good minute or two. Also resend service books. Other than that, wait and see if it improves (assuming your husband is unable to confirm things one way or the other with the carrier).

Also, by the way, he should check options > mobile network, and make sure data services is not set to off.

He might also scan and try a different network provider.
