Default Google Sync

Please Login to Remove!

I didn't see a thread on this so here is a simple question, probably no real solution.

I have Google Sync. It works great if I type in stuff in the calendar and hit sync on my BB, it syncs everything to the BB calendar. If I type stuff in my BB calendar and hit sync it doesn't show up in Google Calendar.

Any ideas how I can get it to work both ways?

Thanks

quick update,
Disregard the above, apparently it does work both ways just takes forever to update in google calendar. Ok not forever but like 5 mins. Just me being impatient testing it out.

As far as I know it only works one way...I had that same problem as well.

I don't use it but I'm pretty sure it works both ways. Did you check Googles help section.

You know what, I never had issues with adding events to my blackberry calender or google calender and having them sync up. I had issues with removing an event from either and calender and not having it sync with the other.

It does work both ways. You may be adding items to a calendar that is different than the one that you're syncing with Google. Check your default services (options>advanced>default services) and this will be the calendar that you are adding items to when adding from the BB. This may or may not be the one that is sync'd to Google.

It does work both ways, infact you can also setup a Desktop Google sync client that will then sync your Google calendar to your desktop, and back again.

I use this setup for both my wife and I. both our BB's sync to the same Google Calendar and it then syncs to and from the Outlook Calendar at home. No matter where we are, we are both up to date, (within a couple of hours anyway) you have to allow for the calendars all syncing at different times.

So if you add something to your BB it will sync to your PC and your wifes BB. Not worried about the time frame.

And how do you set up your wifes BB to sync with your calendar.

Hi, ok, so here's how I set this up.
I setup a central google Calendar account that everything sync's to and from.
My BB and my Wife's BB have the Google Sync for BB client installed and bothe set to sync to this once calendar. The BB client will synce every 2 hours by default, unless you change something directly on your BB, then it pushes it out quicker.

On the home Windows PC, with Outlook I have the Google Calendar Sync client for Outlook installed. It is set to sync the Outlook Calendar to the Google Calendar every 15 minutes, (probably over kill so I will most likely adjust that)

So if I add an event on my BB it will not get pushed to the google Calendar. From there the Desktop sync client will see the event the next time it syncs and wil add it to the Outlook Calendar, and my wife's BB will pick it up the next her BB sync's to Google Calendar.

Also, I can't take the credit for this.. This was the solution given me by someone on the BB supportforums.
Here is the post in full from there with links to Google calendars for the clients and other documentation

----
Use Google calendar which can sync with Outlook 2003

Introduction to Google Calendar Sync - Calendar Help Center

Use Google mobile sync on both devices, the calendar on Google can be shared by multiple users.

View Calendar on your mobile device - Calendar Help Center

You would be able to sync both devices and the Outlook calendar at home.

With your Gmail account you can import your contacts as well.

This would keep you in sync with both devices and the home calendar, plus have your contacts.

That would leave one DM sync for your wife at work for the Outlook 2000 calendar. This solves her changing the default calendar between work and home.
(If Gmail had support for 2000, your wife could link her work calendar and her personal calendar to the same sync. Users can have multiple calendars in Google.)

Read the links and see if this would be easier for you to manage.
And by the way.....IT'S FREE :smileyhappy:
Let me know!

Thanks

Thanks go to Bifocals on BBSF for the solution.

I hope this helps.
