Default Cleaning the trackball for noobs.. Pictures included... !! check em out !!!!

Please Login to Remove!

Step 1:

Stick your fingernail in the top part of the outer ring.

Step 2:

Pry the ring out lightly with your finger nail.

Step 3:

Pry out the 2nd ring VERY lightly, as the 2nd ring is very thin and easy to bend.

Step 4:

Take out the base of the trackball, again by prying it out with your finger nail.

Step 5:

Use rubbing alcohol and a Q-Tip and DON'T soak the Q-Tip with the alcohol, jut have a little bit on the swab and let the cotton swab roll around the trackball to remove any excess dirt and make ur ball cleaner ! Then use the opposite side to dry it of course....

Step 6:
Do the same thing you did when you took it apart, and you may want to use a lead pencil to get the 2nd ring into its place because there is a small slot to get it in... If you want pictures on how to get the trackball together, just ask !!

If you are as cute as you appear that may work, but if I saw someone spitting on their blackberry I'd probably slap them on the spot .

Meh...
I thought the trackball was super-ultra-mega-trance dirt/body oil/spit/whatnot-resistant and never needs cleaning.

I hope you just wasted your time cleaning it

The trackball it self doesnt is plastic and doesnt absorb stuff, but there are grooves on it for traction that trap dirt/oil/lint/dirt.

Great work Spiffy, between few contributors end users will benefit by using one or the other way to clean trackball. Users now have choice on how they want to clean their trackballs.

Ah, the feeling of clean trackball.

For those who think the ball doesn't get dirty, it does. It turns dark over time, too. I've even used the alcohol to clean the actual rollers as they get dirt on them just as the rollers in a mouse do. Clean the rollers themselves and the trackball smoothes out again. If you do take it apart down to the rollers just pay close attention to which direction the rollers go.
