Default Temporary to Permanent SRP

Please Login to Remove!

We are currently running two BlackBerry servers, 1 in Exchange 5.5 environment which now has no users but uses our permanent SRP, the other server is in our Exchange 2003 environment with about 15 users using out temporary SRP.

Now that we have tested our 2003 server and moved all the users over we are looking at putting the permanent SRP on this server, is this possible by just changing the properties of the server or do other changes need to be made?

Thanks for any help.

the users will need to reactivate their handhelds, if i'm not mistaken. they shouldn't require a security wipe, but that may be possible.

Usually I find disabling the services on the "perm key" server then ammending the srp on the "temp key" server will do the job. I found on earlier versions of SP on 4.0 it wouldnt sync and I had to run a manual sync. But in later SP's 3&4 it seems to work a treat

Just remember to back up both servers first!!!

If you point the "permanant" BES at the same database of your "temp" server, you can dynamically move the users from one server to the other without having to re-provision. You can then decomission the "temp" server and if necessary, move the database to a different sever.

Hi guys, what about changing a temp srp to a permanent key without reinstalling the whole bes...

I think this is good as workaround especially on DEMO...to Commercial..to save time ...

easy, in fact my recommendation when people are running trial BES is that they build in on production kit so that when the BES 'goes live' all you need to change is the SRP. You'lll need to regenerate the encryption keys/re-activated all your hh devices however.

As long as your BES services are running when you change the SRP you won't have to do anything. The BES will send a "Change SRP" command to all the handhelds and BAM!! all is good.

For the Original poster, if you want to keep using the BES that is tied into the 2003 server, just stop the other BES, then change from the Temp to perm SRP on the new one (while it's running).
