How were you charging the device? Wall charger or USB?

If it was USB, I would suggest using a wall charger. You might also try swapping batteries with a known good one.

Ditto on the wall charger. Anytime I plug my 8300 into my computer it gives me a message that the current from the USB port is not sufficient to charge the battery.

Trying another battery is also worth trying. A co-worker of mine got an 8300 from a friend and hers would not turn on either. I let her try my battry knowing it was good and it started up no problems.

I wonder too about the usb connector on the blackberry. I've seen a fair number of issues with the Pearl and the 8330 with the connectors.....so if the connector on the Blackberry is broken, it won't take a charge from either a wall charger of the computer cable. ...and a triple ditto to what everyone else has said, I always tell our users not to count on the usb computer cable for charging
